My understanding of holding the ball has actually regressed after watching that game. Some very confusing decisions going both ways.
As for Bulldogs having 25 players? I make their actual number somewhere in the low 30s - about 10 of the Swans were hitting up Bulldogs pretty well in the first...
This is true. He didn't have a preseason due to injury and it's really showing. I guess that he's good enough when fit that they figure they've just got to get game time into him and he'll improve pretty quickly.
I think that's what people are complaining about. Let's face it, being as good as the rest of the team isn't exactly high praise.
Having said that, I thought she was ok. At least she can ask an open question. I'm sick of hearing interviewers say "You must be pretty happy with that win".
I saw only the last quarter (stupid weddings :)), but was the ground very heavy? It looked like both sides were moving quite slowly - even the swans were not playing close on their man and applying pressure on transition.
The stretcher play was clearly a fluke. Last week clearly showed that the Swans don't have the cattle to execute that game plan consistently. I mean, who was supposed to be calling for it? Tippett? Sinclair again? What a stuff-up.
Seriously though, any result is possible for this game. More...
I'm not getting too excited about the swans. We lack class around the stoppages, but Jack and Parker played very well tonight. A slip in form or a bit more pressure sand we are back to bombing it out of the contest, much like the pies were doing.
They played well, but it's round one and I'm...
Wow! Coaches association votes are interesting.
Hawthorn v Sydney Swans
10 Dan Hannebery (Syd)
6 Luke Parker (Syd)
4 Cyril Rioli (Haw)
3 Sam Mitchell (Haw)
3 Sam Reid (Syd)
2 James Frawley (Haw)
2 Jarrad McVeigh (Syd)
Looks like Rioli got 4 from one coach and 0 from the other. And Mitchell...
The problem I have with the media froth over Cyril is that there is so little content to it. Ok, so he's exciting, he does things that no-one else can do. Don't just tell me that - explain *why*! Tell me *how* he is doing these things.
It's a problem with AFL-related media generally. Instead...
Not as good as McVeigh's on-field comments after the game.
"Ling: So, how about kicking those 2 goals in the last quarter.
McVeigh: Yeah, well I wasn't doing much in the backline, so I parked myself down forward and got a couple which was good".
Well done doggies - super win. I thought we would break away once the rain started, but you had all the answers.
The boos were for the umps who didn't pay what looked like a pretty clear mark to Pyke at the end (we didn't get a replay at the ground).
Sydney really have some problems bringing...
I can't understand why so many people are writing off Port. They have lost two games against teams that are likely to finish in the top four. It's not ideal, but it doesn't mean they're rubbish. Last years Swans lost their first two games against teams that didn't make the finals!
The thing...
I'm very nervous about this one. I feel like Sydney have to win this to show that they are not pretenders. We're doing pretty well, but....
- we lost to GWS
- Hawthorn were crippled by injuries when we played them
- victories against Freo & Geelong were both at home, and Geelong were coming off...
