Getting more into the sours. In fact right now I have a glass of ' Plum Perfect' in my hand. Had a really top notch sour the other day at Sun Moth called something like ' pash the dragon'. They always seem to have one or two decent sours on tap, including sirene.
Their background is definitely corporate and they are focused on franchise. But that isn't to say that their food is no good. It's ingredients are aimed at the middle-class palette and the burgers are well prepared. They are also very good as franchises to take up. Typically they will open an...
Urban Burgers were started by an accountant and marketing person with no culinary experience intent on building a franchise business. Its all about the marketing. Andrews Burgers are a family run business who have been making burgers for decades and who will never open a second outlet. Therein...
forest rat, bat, snails (including snail pizza), frog legs, offal, raw turtle eggs, horse meat - I used to make spaghetti boloneigh on a regular basis, Steak Tartare, tripe etc
I spent the first few years of my life inside the old psych facility (Aradale), where my father worked. Crazy memories of the inmates, who at the time, I regarded as fairly normal.
I knew a bloke who this and he had some cooler which basically consisted of pipes going through icy water. Not powered, you supply the ice yourself. It worked well though. He was a line tester for CUB and used to fail the odd barrel, which he would take home where it would miraculously become...
Another vote for le creuset. I do a rabbit casserole as much as any other meat. I usually include a bouquet garni or similar, red wine and maybe a swede or to give a little sweetness.
Just a weekend? Forget it.
Fruit is hard slog and the pickers who earn the best money are the ones doing handling delicates. Farmers want seasonal workers, not day-trippers.
having said that, centrelink may provide you with free transport to fruit picking ares. Back in the day when I worked...
I've got one and its ok, but its really only suitable for small rooms - we use it to cool the kids room in hot weather as that room gets particular hot. They are very fiddlesome as well as they have to exhaust the hot air produced, meaining some large pipe coming through the back through an...
Everything is shut in Melbourne at the moment, so I was forced into Gloria Jeans today - I'd forgotten how bad coffee can be (if you can call it that).
Couple of spots on the circle drive around the you-yangs - good old fashioned wood bbq's and not many people. point cook is another good spot, although not ath the height of summer.
Dial up Internet? Go Tiger!
You can do a cost comparison at http://www.phonechoice.com.au/.
A lot of choices now if you throw voip in to the mix. Personally I get the Telstra $18 line rental and use the Internet for phone calls, engin or skype being a couple of examples.
OK -odd subject I grant you, but I was down at Apollo Bay market a couple of weeks ago and I picked up a couple of kilos of Otway Reds - hadn't had them before. These were seriously nice spuds, kind of rubbery to feel and unusual looking, but bejeezus, they were creamy to eat. Roasted superb...
Vic market has them. I roasted a goose a about 4 years ago for x-mas with a foie gras stuffing, wasn't that great and a huge amount of fat. Not cheap either. We had it sitting on a wire tray a about three cm's above the base of the roasting tray. There would have been about 2cm of fat on the...
Yeah I had noticed that Seagrapes is now a deli, doesn't seem very popular although at least it adds another string to the local variation. I haven't eaten at the top pub for a couple of years, so I'll have to check it out.
meh, the food has gone down-hill there in recent times. Thought it was quite lack-lustre and what ever you do, don't order coffee. Not to mention that seem to prefer employing unco-ordinated gits as waiting staff.
For a memorable meal heading down that way, I suggest going to Pettaval...

Is it just me or does everyone get mixed up with the amount of alcohol you can drink then drive with the amount of alcohol you can bring in through customs?
Yikes, the West Gate is the worst bottleneck in Melbourne and is expected to get considerably worse before it gets better. Public transport from there to Point Cook is of course non-existant.
I hope you don't intend to travel in peak hours.
Edinburgh - Great city, has it all, but is easy to get out of.
London - Great city but you are somewhat trapped and transport is a nightmare.
Brum? ha ha ha
