Ive thought about this a lot Have an AFL Reserves Then a Victorian Reserve League Combine the current stand alone teams and have a few more (particularly regional) teams. Make this a truly state wide comp where talent can be sighted across the entire state.

The AFL will throw money at Arden St to bring it up to standard for VFL, AFLW as it will be easily accessible with the new metro rail tunnel.

Really a shame to see the stand alone clubs struggling so much. It would be tougher each year having to come up against afl aligned clubs who have several players training full time and conditioned to a standard of football against part time players who would work day jobs.

The issue is with a lot of VFL teams that have AFL connection is that they're is often minimal stability within the team with players going to and from the senior to reserves screwing with the form of the comp overall. Often teams are much more focussed on structure than actually having a win. I...
