God I hope he doesn't (much as I thought Djoka should have been deported) - the power of ministerial discretion in these matters should be reserved for genuine humanitarian purposes, not for a petulant little spat over a meaningless game.
But it doesn't clash with the elections in TamilNadu, which is the crucial factor. If the security forces say they can offer the required security, which they said they can do, unlike the IPL, then there is no reason to question that.
It was a disgraceful xenophobic decision by Tennis Australia. Chennai, which I've visted a couple of times recently, is a very safe city.
IPL is not relevant at all, that was shifted because the elections are on at the same time (it takes weeks) and the security forces couldn't guarantee...
