I used to have the T-shirt they gave out for that match. Black shirt with “fluoro” orange glow in the dark text that said something like “I was there when they turned the lights on at the Gabba”
Why does the round 19/20 release say members “redemption” for qclash is Thursday 15 July?
Why do we have to redeem our tickets for a gabba home game? Does this mean we’re not sitting in our designated seats?
LionsMaw They are extending the “Doug Nicholls round” over 2 rounds this year, where we play GWS at home (I would assume wearing the red version) and the Melbourne Demons in Alice Springs (where I would assume we wear the white ‘clash’ version due to it being a Melbourne home game and Melbourne...
No “whole group” match play today, mostly drills and small group plays
Zorko made the most of his time ... by designing a new seat...
and was then temporarily joined by two 200cm forwards (sans “footy seat”)
Looked a lot like "see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil" - but who is to say...
This is us as well.
The lack of a “thanks for entering the ballot... but Unfortunately....“ email so far gives me *some* hope that they’ve not completed the allocation, As it seems odd the members would miss out given the increase in allowable capacity this week.
I was at that match at the Adelaide Oval.... let’s just say I made some new “friends” in the Adelaide Crows crowd.
Many of them can give “advice”, but have no come back when a couple of snarky Lions fans give it back to them with a bit of polite clarity.
At least it made a shocking game a...
I’m still sfellowing about the “standard” of the game, the low score AND the draw tonight between supposedly the teams that could be a “Grand final preview” according to the Vic commentators...
I just hope we put on a better show and don’t look as undercooked as Collingwood and Richmond look...
I understand this!
I “watched” (ie. kept hitting refresh on the score and Big Footy threads - streamed vision was hard to find in 2001) the 2001 Grand Final from an Internet cafe in Athens... the locals were very worried about the strange Aussie girl screaming at the computer monitor and...
My positive for the week is completely self-absorbed...
My 9/9 tips this week has me at number 1 on the Lions tipping thing on lions.com.au (admittedly it's only out of 517 tipsters.. but I'm claiming it as a victory as it will be the only time I am on top of ANY tipping competition!)
Just to stick my head in here for a second :)
I just wanted to make note of one of the points mentioned in this thread so far:
It was mentioned there is a "mandatory 2 banner-making sessions" rule. This is something that (in regard to the Brisbane-based cheersquad at least) is not a current...
Ah.. Scotty, We'll miss you.
I'll be dusting off the old "GREAT SCOTT" banner and holding it aloft for the last time on Saturday night.
*sigh* Scotty, I'm glad to have had the pleasure of watching you (and your brother) show your passion and commitment to the team and the game.
Great...
Here! Here!
I was at that meeting at the Brisbane Convention Centre, and I, as well as many others (Bears and Fitzroy), felt the heartache of having 'our' team ripped from us.
Now our team combines the best (and worst) of the Bears and Fitzroy. I am proud that our club can remember both...

Graeme Smart, you will be missed. A great fellow who would talk to anyone as if he had known them for forty years. A real stalwart of the Bears/Lions.
RIP Smarty.
Condolences to his family.
Do it for Smarty...
(Here you go, SB!)
Great comeback game from Scott, of the 'Chris' variety. Good signs for the remainder of the year for him.
Once he gets a few more games under his belt we may see him return to the backline. Until then, I am more than happy for him to pinch-hit in the forward line...
(To continue the off-topic-ness) My car's name is "Black Betty". Do I get a lollipop?
(back on topic - sort of)
Pity Browny is out for a while, but at least he will hopefully only miss the couple of matches he had to 'serve' through suspension and we'll see him back Round 3.
Hmm. I have mixed feelings on the Leppa/Scotty issue. Whilst I would like to give them an extra week to ensure their injuries are healed and therefore primed for future rounds.... I am too darn competitive to even give the Swans a teeny tiny bit of a perceived 'edge'!.....
so, basically...
Johnno's 2001 and 2002 Grand Final boots (one Black, one White) are currently up for auction on ebay (proceeds to Starlight foundation).
The Bid is currently at $1825.00.. Anyone we know bidding on this??

I agree with most of this article.
I think Blake needs the time to develop an understanding of where to place himself, why team possession is more important than my possession; How our team believe in the abilities of their teammates; When to put his body on the line for his teammates. This...
My own personal opinion is that Eddie 'hears and sees what he wants to '.
Where we might see G.Downie grimacing through gritted teeth *Yeah, Ed. That's REEAAALLY funny You W***er*(similar to Leppa during the post-match interview ;) )... Eddie would see a full throated belly laugh at his...
Way to Go, Brad! Knew you'd get there!
(....and Brad... Don't forget to wave at my Great Scott! banner again! ;) - I look forward to it every home game now ;) )
From my perspective of the game, I didn't think that Riewoldt had that much influence on it. I saw... Riewoldt moved to CHF after first getting outplayed at FF by Bradshaw (of all people). Went onto Leppa and yes, took a couple of good marks and kicked two? three? goals. I also saw Riewoldt...
For those of you with Fox Footy Channel....
"Brisbane Lions Best & Fairest: The Merrett-Murray Medal 2002"
- 1 hour program - 'highlights' I would guess.
Saturday 12th October 8.30pm
or
Tuesday 15th October 6.00pm
(probably other times as well... but that is as far as I read...
Hmmm... tough choice ....
<--------- see avatar and title for answer to question :D
Great Scott! all the way!
On a related note.. what a terrible injustice it was to have to share a plane flight from Melbourne last night with C.Scott. Oh, the pain! :D
