I thought Payne played quite well last night considering the ball was coming in so fast and with no pressure on the kicker. He actually beat Hogan and as someone noted above has only had about 3 or 4 goals kicked on him in the last 4 weeks. He may have his limitations but he is definitely the...
I think a lot of our issues this year relate to a lack of fitness. Players seem to be trying to take shortcuts and not chasing etc to try and conserve energy which leads to a breakdown in team structure and a lack of confidence in their ability to run out a full game. That’s why we can look good...
What a pathetic response. Queensland must have the most small minded politicians in Australia.
Why they ever decided they wanted the Olympics is a mystery, because it is going to be the most farcical and embarrassing event ever seen. And with nothing to show for it after it’s finished. And with...
The problem is that the vast majority of players who are drafted have been playing as midfielders in the underage competitions because the best players generally play on the ball. Very rarely does a wingman or flanker get drafted because they aren’t the best players in the team. So after being...
What a load of garbage. Do these people actually consider themselves to be serious journalists? How anyone can be paid to write this sort of crap is beyond me. I know News Corp aim their articles at someone with the intellect and knowledge of a 12 year old but it is getting worse by the year.
I think we need 2 specialist rucks against Collingwood especially with Oscar being in such poor form. Surprised Lohmann is playing, has been very ordinary so far,Tunstill would be a better option imo, would give us more options in the midfield. Not quite sure where Lohmann can actually play apart...
Lyons is slow but at least he tries. Rayner knows he doesn’t have the tank so he slackens off and lets his man run off him through the centre corridor which opens up our backline. He should only play forward of centre imo.
Good to know there is someone in Brisbane who can take a long term view of things and who can see the need for proper infrastructure. The two political leaders are incredibly small minded and only concerned with their own self interest.
So the Olympics have now just turned into a parochial political game. Purely a local vote chasing exercise. Such a disgraceful and pathetic attitude to a once in a lifetime chance to promote Brisbane to the world and provide some 21st Century infrastructure. The IOC should just step in and take...
So presumably Brisbane will never be getting a new stadium under either Labour or Liberal governments. What an absolute joke. If they can’t do it now with Olympic and Federal money there is no way that they could ever convince the public to do it. Talk about small town thinking. Obviously they...
So they are proposing to spend $500million on transport infrastructure for a 2 week event at a 40000 seat stadium, which will then be reduced to a capacity of 14000. They must seriously be living in a parallel universe
It won’t matter because nobody outside Queensland will bother coming to the Olympics anyway. With only 40000 tickets available for the athletics why bother. The number of visitors coming to Brisbane will be sfa. I assume the government has factored in the loss of revenue from ticket sales and...
Is it poor drafting or poor development? There seems to be a complete lack of improvement in so many players over the last 5 years. That’s why our depth is so shallow.
Better to break the contract now rather than throw away billions with no decent long term infrastructure and making Brisbane a laughing stock to the rest of the world. There will be very little money coming in via Olympic revenue anyway with the tinpot stadium they have decided on. It is truly...
This is unbelievably embarrassing for the whole country but particularly Queensland. What a sad joke the whole thing has become. Taking a bus ride to a 40000 seat stadium to watch the athletics! Sounds like a secondary school sports day. Excruciating!
This was Brisbane’s big chance to develop a world class sport and entertainment complex which would benefit present and future generations. And it is going to finish up with a clapped out and undersized Gabba and a couple of second rate so called stadiums. Unbelievably short sighted and petty...
I agree. It is now pretty obvious that Rayner will never have the tank to be a genuine midfielder. He tries to conserve energy by dropping off his opponent and his lack of defensive pressure then opens us up through the corridor. Bailey is much the same unfortunately.
We seem to have the same problems when we play badly, don’t persist with our pressure and become reactive and just bomb the ball without any composure. Pretty concerning from a team of this experience.
Individually some players just can’t seem to reach the level we hoped for:
Rayner and Bailey...
The Greens were dead against the Labour Government in Victoria building Rod Laver arena and the rest of the Tennis Centre in basically unused ‘parkland’ back in the 1980’s. The government ignored all the bleating and got on with it and the result has been outstanding and a massive public...
Oscar refuses to handball and goes for a big Hail Mary kick which rarely comes off. Players are running past to get the hand off but he always seems to ignore them. Incredibly frustrating to see it happen time after time. He is either working to instruction or doesn’t have the ability to...
I thought Dunkley had a great first half of season 2023 but he seemed to drop off a lot later in the year, and his grand final was underwhelming. His effort in the second and third quarters last Friday was beyond disappointing,he seemed to disappear from the contest altogether. Not sure what was...
The difference with the Giants compared to us is that their midfielders seem to be quick enough to get back in time to help out the defence, and are big enough to compete against the forwards. We are sadly lacking in that department imo, hence we have to send someone like Rayner back there...
I agree about Lohmann, he just doesn’t seem to have the composure and game sense to turn into an AFL level footballer from what I can see. Hope I am wrong but the signs aren’t great at this stage. In fact I thought his brother showed a bit more than him which is pretty embarrassing.
Watching the reserves and fringe players in the last two quarters last night was pretty disappointing I thought. Ah Chee was like a class above, none of the rest of them showed any sign that they were ready to play senior football any time soon. We are so lucky that we have picked up Ashcroft...
Jarrod Berry doesn’t look to have the body shape of a 7 year player. It looks like he hasn’t done any upper body weight training at all. I know he has had shoulder issues so presumably that is the reason but he certainly doesn’t appear to have the strength to be a regular midfielder. Must be...
