So Ottavi is an EP junior. I’m sure he played only the 1 game. So did he put another player out?
Let’s be fair here. South have no players in a regular VFL spot nor Coates league so what’s the difference
Brings a lot of excitement to the game/league. What is the difference when other clubs play there VFL aligned players for 1 or 2 games during the season..
I recall Nth Ballarat playing Glover against South at South.
East Point played Ottavi when he kicked an absolute bag at South. Think he...
Cmon mate, get on your laptop and have a look as really appreciate your opinion. Won’t take you more than 5mins if you can fast forward. 😉
Just puts people off tackling these decisions. Definitely doesn’t change the game. South skill errors in the first in the back half were horrendous and if...
Watching the Sunbury v South game ( currently 2nd qrt 20min mark) on my laptop and yes it was all Sunbury especially but gee the umpiring is like kicking South when there down.
Watch the tackle at the 16min mark of the 2nd qrt. South no15 tackles Sunbury no2 who holds onto the ball to long and...
Hey mate, really irrelevant. His really committed and been great for the young group including 19s offering his experience from his past years. Honestly ask anyone at the club and they will say you cannot fault him. Could easily have jumped on another club but choose to help be part of getting...
The oval is not as big as others in the league but it’s definitely no kids oval. Go watch EDFL mate as it’s bigger than some premier grounds. However agree would be good if extended a bit goal to goal and there were plans for that at one point I believe.
Huge challenge now for South with there 2 highly rated recruits missing many weeks through injuries. Wilson to miss up 10 weeks. Veszpremi to miss up to 6. Not ideal..
And they don’t get much go there way decision wise which is a bit frustrating just to add to the pressures.
Watch the decision to melton #27 at about the 20.18min mark of the first qrt from a south kick out. Results in a goal to melton. I have absolutely no idea what it was for neither did the...
I mean straight out of AFL/VFL or last year or 2. Veszpremi has been out of the system for a few years now.
Couple of injuries to decent recruits prior to half time on Saturday also didn’t help there cause. But Melton to much depth and very strong midfield although no recognised ruckman.
It’s not the population mate it’s the demographic in the area. Yes there junior program has improved and they are playing a lot of there own but a few extra points would definitely help. This competition is stronger than where Lalbert play if I’m correct.
The points was put in to assist clubs...
However recruiting even a depth player is still going to be 2-3 points. They continue to push and have 19s and always put a reserves side out each week. Just think extra points can assist even if it’s a small part.
Melton recruiting South players was not ideal.
Hopefully they can secure Jack...
Mate 3 extra points wow!! The way the points is set up it might not even mean 1 more player. These clubs need the max points of 50 and hopefully they recruit smartly. A few other leagues allow that so why isn’t this league.
I don’t disagree as getting them players to return would greatly help.
Darley getting Bewley back and then Myers was huge. Plus got a great coach. Probably up there with McGuane and Tudor as the best coaches I can think off. Getting Jordan was huge and very smart by Darley. I would assume his...
South could head to the riddell and thinking Lakers could explore there options. The Marsh are doing ok but could they also switch to Riddell as a point of difference to Darley? Just thinking out loud.
Also the 19s travelling is an issue with retaining juniors also!!
The move of Kyeton to the...
No mate they only have 46 which is what most clubs are on around the leagues. Think allow them the max of 50 to assist with getting them more competitive.
I think unless this league assists the clubs at the bottom end then it’s highly possible at least 3 sides will consider leaving in the next few years. Why do the lower clubs not have more points to allow them to recruit a couple more to be more competitive? Yes it’s a great competition but it...
Think the couple of players that left for diggers last season are returning. Not sure of any others as they have been quite on the recruiting front like the majority of clubs this pre season.
If your retired than you retire I reckon. Only case will be if they can’t recruit to cover there loss it might be an incentive to return. Retirement after a premiership is a great way to go out. Darley will be fine..
Agree and they seem to be recruiting specifically what they need and not players straight out of AFL/VFL so that’s a better strategy I reckon. I did hear 2-3 have verbally committed to stay 2 years min. If they can land 1 or 2 more then I can see huge improvement.
