Overall, glad we had Andrews, definitely did some great things for this state. Really got action going on public transport and cars which we haven't seen in decades. Some of this will only hit fruition in the year to come once the Metro Tunnel becomes active but will be generational.
His big...
Still prefer Dan to anything the opposition is offering but i think the 3rd term staleness is setting in.
For mine, the silver bullet for the liberals might be when the proposed planning 'reform' doesn't deliver near the impact for provision of housing that Dan is relying on.
His investment in...
Massive f*ck up and just a mess from the government.
If we had a half competent opposition they would eat this but it will be similar to the EW link 'saga' (which they tried to pin on Labor not the shonky pre election deal) and fail to land a punch.
We had the games 20 years ago, a lot of the...
The article includes this statement:
'The Victorian Liberal Party has vowed to put home ownership for younger people “front and centre” of its policies to try to avoid a looming demographic cliff as tens of thousands of its voters die before the next election.'
I don't see how this is even...
One thing to lose an election, another to lose it by another landslide similar to last time when there was genuine sentiment against Dan/ Labor that the libs couldn't even eat into.
There was no excuse for the liberals not to at the least gain a bit from 2018.
This has to be the worst...
The Murdoch Press, at least in Vic is dead with no influence and has been now for 3-4 years. Will be interesting to see if Rupert and co keep pumping absurd amounts of money into a dead cause.
even the HS seems to have realised it might have f*cked up here, they've seemingly taken down the link on twitter, and closed comments on Facebook.
I don't know who thought that would be beneficial journalism in any case, anyone who is convinced dan was pushed, wrestled or whacked on the stairs...
The HS might have another nail in the coffin after todays front page that sees the rag becoming more of a vocal piece for the far right that will be further deserted when the current older crop of liberals pass through.
100%, she'd be paying a PR firm massive $$$ couldn't they have drafted a statement for her to read out.
the fact she hasn't come out is massively telling.
There's no way Australia/ the world is getting out of this lightly IMO.
It's farcical in Australia to think that the government should even consider further handouts to counter the rising cost of everything, as it will end up just pumping back into an economy that has too much heat in it right...
Every time i think maybe the libs have learnt there lesson and might be somewhat of a shot they just keep doing something f*cking stupid.
Saw they now are requesting Labor doesnt sign any contracts regarding the rail loop.... like its some moral compass.
Do they ever think...' did we ever do...
The ability to service debt and the ability to provide stimulus is worrying, particularly considering the precarious nature of the economy.
This scares me and must scare economists as well.
Think both sides of government are going to realise how hard it is to run a modern economy without...
See this doesn't get enough attention.
Even in Aus, the Government (not an attack on the libs - labor would've done similar) pumped 100's of billions into the economy during Covid for stimulus reasons and didn't even bat an eye lid about thinking what all that money in the system means...
This is the same issue at PT in Victoria. Private corps might be able try and make it more 'efficient' but they have no vested stake in the upgrade of infrastructure which is old, outdated and where real improvements can be made.
It's like giving Nadal a racquet from the 70's. His still likely...
No argument that the Greens did well in the last election but still need to add some diversity into their setup as this issue still portrays a largely inner city upper class white image.
This would assist growth into the middle/ outer ring suburbs where their policies would have major impact to...
Shows a softly softly small strategy approach worked for Labor as well. Might shut a few people up who kept banging on that Labor had no vision, no strategy and would lead to them losing again.
Time for this to get a bump.
They're at a point now where Labor was 10-15 years ago when the greens started (and continue) to eat up what were traditionally safe Liberal seats.
I don't think they have any option but to step back from the bats*it crazy right takes and begin to get slightly...
If it was Albo who cleaned up that kid in a soccer match you would've had Panahi, Bolt and co already spin out 15 articles advocating for the need for a prison sentence.
Crazy how the framing from the libs in the past few weeks almost acknowledge that they haven't been great the past 3 years... but labor were worse back almost 10 years ago.
Undecided voters right now are nothing more than a myth and are probably likely to donkey vote. If you haven't made your mind up by now you never will.
No one has the cajones or intellect in the media but f*ck we could really strip back a bit of our defence spending as i think its played up how much of a threat we are at. While they could also stop p*ssing China off with the crazy geopolictial stuff we could really divert even a 5-10% of...
Think one thing they've done well is not dip their toes in every issue which i think has been an issue in recent campaigns. Whilst valid or not there simply isn't benefit in getting involved in every single issue.
Pretty well measured campaign, will be interesting to see how they perform.
The issue when everything is run through the lens of the $$. Even though most countries had similar issues, it seemed like the healthcare system had very little scope to scale up when needed.
yep, experienced similar. Crazy when its normally a 15 minute checkup that doesn't really do too much unless you have an issue...which normally requires a trip to specialist/s and more $$$
Seems to be absolutely at its knees at the moment across Australia with hospitals stretched to limits, GP shortages, struggle to get a mental health (or many types of allied health) appointments at the moment.
Is it as bad as its been painted by the media, medical bodies etc. Seems to be...
