For Aust cricket, I hope Philippe delivers on his talent. Though for WA cricket, especially in the red ball format, the fella has had more then enough opportunities. Hopefully when Inglis is away, young Curtis can find his feet at the FC level.
What was Henriques thinking by batting on this morning? Gee NSW run home was all set up for them to do a Kiwi at the Melbourne Cup finishing line over WA or Victoria.
All over red rover......Victoria will have to make all the running now v WA to make the final. Hopefully it's a ripper of a contest.....who ever wins, will beat Tassie in the final.....
Mate it was live here on Sky Sports in NZ. Sat back at watched the game as a proud WA boy....probably the only person in NZ to watch it I reckon.....but hey I am not complaining.
Cartwright goes from villain for dropping a soda v Tassie, to hero with his match winning unbeaten knock in a cut throat final.....cricket, and sport in general, has a funny way of doing that....often in the other direction though.
Paris gets a well deserved 4 for, pity this guy has had a...
Looks like Tassie have a plethora of danger men....now it's Wakim and Silk.....the WA bowling looks very fragile to say the least.....someone needs to step up and snag a few quick wickets....preferably sooner rather than later.
I see Short scored a ton v Tassie 2nds yesterday, so he will be considered as well.....Voges might follow Westend's lead and put a line through those 3 WA youngsters and go for some experience in WA middle order v Tassie.
Good effort by Short and Tye to get some sort of total.....though both pinned the ears back when the young NSW quick came back for his 2nd spell.....and sadly paid the price.
Interesting to see a WA 2nd XI with Goodwin, Wyllie, Fanning, Cartwright, Stobo, Gannon, Kelly and Rocchiccioli, got thrashed by a Qld 2nd XI with Clayton, Guthrie and Street playing last weekend. WA had a plethora of boys playing with decent FC experience, unlike Qld.
Hopefully the rust is...
Stobo has been a godsend for WA in their lower order. Another big ask for him to hang in there and help guide WA home with Goodwin...55 to chase down. Also a good confidence booster for Goodwin if he can be there at the end.
Edit: spoke to soon....Stobo out now....geez kiss of death or what?
Good to see WA respond after an ordinary effort on Day 1. Nothing like a challenge to get those competitive juices flowing. Most games of late WA has dominated from the off. Hopefully Paris can get that well deserved 10 for....if only this guy could stay fit.
Outstanding team effort by the WA boys. Good spread of wickets over both innings, by the bowlers. Voges must be pinching himself at the depth of this WA squad at his disposal. WA cricket certainly enjoying a rich vein of success.
Always exciting to see any player make their debut. Good luck to young Haskett. Big ask for that selected WA bowling attack though...with Richardson, Kelly, Paris, Morris and Behrendorf missing....would think Vic are more then slight favourites here to win this match.
Fantastic to see so many of the squad commit for the next few years.....and also the younger brigade in Connolly, Goodwin etc not jumping ship to seek sooner opportunities elsewhere. Cricket in WA is certainly very very healthy at present.
Perhaps Bancroft might see some higher honours in the near future, resulting in Goodwin given an opportunity to press for state selection again. Definitely needs some early runs though.
I don't believe NSW are that all dominating team, folk think of years past, as all those international boys are all getting older and losing that aura of invincibility. Interesting to read, if the NSW grade is as strong and deep as indicated, then surely the likes of Hughes, Sangha, Edwards...
The fella has had a standout season, may not be top ten in the bowling stakes in a lot of folks eyes, but currently sits at the top of the Shield bowling ranks for wickets taken this season. Also extra responsibility of the captaincy thrown in on top, makes that feat a more valid one.
On...
Vic probably would of liked to have stayed out their batting for a bit longer whilst Sutherland was hitting a few. New day tomorrow, a couple of quick wickets and it could be all over by lunch time.
Great hundred by Turner, well supported by Paris, and some early wickets by Kelly and Paris...
