Hit the nail on the head, work ethic. You play as good as you prep and he's one of the best. Ensures kids don't get baten up in the VFL and can run all day, never have enough runners.
Sounded like with Durdin and JSOS going off we needed someone to play (anywhere really) to ensure players got the rest they needed through rotations on the bench. Round one is the focus, need to keep an eye on the loads they're taking on
He's worked hard over the off-season.
His pervious best time trial was 6:50 and he just hit his new PB of 6:25 I believe after working with our very own Ben Crocker from the VLF side
Just read your reply, you've seen the artilce as well. sounding driven
In Cooks own words " the most important relationship at any football club is between the CEO and the President"(or something very close to this) if he honestly believes that then that's a big tick to Sayers, great get.
It's not about holding power, just being committed to not overpaying when we can easily go to the draft with a good pick, hopefully our last for a while.
In my opinion, I think we should say " this is our first and final offer, under no circumstances are we willing to pay more and are happy to take our pick to the draft or use it in another trade. you're on the clock, tick-tock"
If they choose that they'd like to lose him for nothing so we...
I don't have the foggiest to be honest, you would hope they have that conversation.
Either way, i'd like for us to continue to enbrace the draft and would hope we're confident enough to do so instead of paying overs, picks or trade.
I personally would like to see Austin play hardball when dealing for Cerra.
I understand the value of creating great trading relationships with other recruiters, and clubs for that matter, however in this instance I believe we need to show some spine, to everybody.
It may be unders but I would...
Look at his highlights and it's obvious that he kicks it well as he was taking the kick-ins, you usually trust your best kick/s bringing it in. If he can hit targets, consistently then it's good with me
In 2007 (before he started there) the Saints kicked 1874 points for the season, 2008 (after his first year) they kicked 2126 and in 2009 they kicked 2197. So they did increase their scoring each year he was there.
Super basic stat that doesn't take so much into account, however........
I know what you're saying but I wouldn't say "slower" players as such.
Ed's different as he's proven to be a gut-running beast (better than the majority of others) that can stop his opponent (at an elite level) whilst also getting great clearance, tackle and disposal numbers.
On top of that...
I understand what you're saying, but I say it every year. Ed get's better the longer the season goes, always takes him 4 - 5 games into the season before you see him shine. I think that could come earlier because as we saw tonight, players are going to gas faster.
Just passing on what was told to me by someone in the back office when I was at the club the other day. Could have done it earlier but chose to see out what COVID had in store. As I mentioned, a lot of other clubs didn't have the ability to what we did so well. Well done Blues
The main reason they wanted it paid off ASAP is because the AFL now have no say over how we run the club, and that's from the horses mouth. As long as you have outstanding debt to the AFL then they have a say. That's no longer the case.
They could have done it last year but when COVID hit they...
Was nice to get a look and share the wealth, I was overseas for a long time and lived off the crumbs I got from the good people here. Had to return the favour.
To my eyes, it looked as though we were taking space through the corridor on D trying to force the attacking side wide. The running in waves wasn't just in attack, certainly looked as though there was full ground movement on D as well as in attack.
All coming from the backline, I can't stress...
To be honest I didn't even notice him. Not to say that he wasn't there and doing good things but my eyes were drawn to the above mentioned. If I had longer there I would have been able to take more in, however, it didn't pan out that way. Sorry.
