    Damian Barrett

    Looks pretty reasonable in retrospect.

Moved Thread Footy on telly is better to watch now than in the past

I agree. I know it’s unpopular, but I loved the feeling of just not knowing. I know I am biased but the 2009 Grand Final was vastly better to watch because you had NFI how long was left.

    Commentators pronunciation of names

It was made on Friday night after the interview with Heppell. It was really his insistence that We're in Straya, So Speak Straya'n that I thought was pretty narcissistic and rude.

    Commentators pronunciation of names

I agree, *but* I think BT was a dick for coming out before Fantasia clarified matters, and saying that he was going to pronounce it however he liked no matter what, because Straya.

    Play Nice Brian Taylor

Is BT humanly capable of seeing Ray Chamberlain do something without then pointing out that it's Razor Ray and "he likes to be in the centre of things, Razor"?

    Damian Barrett

In all honesty, I don't mind Damien Barrett - and more often than not, he seems to be pretty well-connected in terms of the stories that he brings. He's not a great judge of footy - loves his superstars a little too much - but as an investigative journo, does pretty well. I'd prefer to listen...

    Barry Hall sacked on air

I've never agreed with the idea that something is binary either funny, or wrong - not both. The reality is that there's plenty where I'll piss myself laughing while thinking "that shouldn't have been said in this setting".

    Barry Hall sacked on air

Like they weren't mostly scared boys barely out of school handed a weapon and told to go die in the jungle.

    Barry Hall sacked on air

Which is true for those who listen at the ground, so fair enough.

    Barry Hall sacked on air

My guess is that they didn't have the finger over the dump button for their own presenters... normally it's just there for talkback, etc.

    Barry Hall sacked on air

Especially if it was made about them, in their absence, by people who they neither knew nor liked.

    Barry Hall sacked on air

There's a difference between an in-joke between extremely close friends, an in-joke in a setting where blue material is expected, and an in-joke shared with hundreds of thousands of listeners across the country on a footy broadcast. Frankly, very few people get their nuts in a twist about...

    FTA-TV TFS - The Footy Show - 2014

It sounds as though you know him personally, and I can't speak to that, but I do believe that if you say something in public (barring of course acting) you still have to own it - whether it's anything from a political speech to a comedy routine.

    FTA-TV TFS - The Footy Show - 2014

No doubting his footballing abilities or his conduct as a footballer. It's the Sam of TFS that I really do not like - and they are still the same person.

    FTA-TV TFS - The Footy Show - 2014

If there was one player I wish I could scrub from the history books of Geelong it would be Sam Newman. That's saying plenty

    FTA-TV TFS - The Footy Show - 2014

Yes! Terrific idea. Makes this sound a bit like a cross between Marngrook and Before the Game, actually. Who else would you have on the panel? Sam Pang, Nerrilee Meadows, Gilbert McAdam, Sam Lane, Cam Mooney in the goofy "Sam" role and Ryan Fitzgerald chipping in occasionally would be a...

Is Gerard Whateley a pinhead or an intellectual?

Have to say I admire the fact that he freely admits to the team that he supports (and yes, it is the same as mine). Actually that's a trait that runs across all of my favourite footy commentators - Whateley (Geelong), Mark Fine (St.Kilda), Huddo (Geelong... obviously), Rohan Connolly (Essendon)...

Moved Thread Robert Walls, wrote a column, full of lies

Did pretty well at Fitzroy and Brisbane considering what he had to deal with - Fitzroy in particular. Richmond didn't go well, but no-one has exactly made a success of that job since Tony Jewell.

Moved Thread Robert Walls, wrote a column, full of lies

Allan Jeans, Jock McHale and Norm Smith? And that's it, I'd imagine. Naturally that list trims down if you include the 'going about' part in a literal sense. Back to the article, I actually agreed with Walls' point (regardless of the exacting accuracy of the statistics or otherwise). I...
