Suns had academy kids playing in the Suns winning VFL premiership team. Fully embodied into their game plan and internal structures. Running around and training with AFL listed players.
They are years ahead of other draftees who dont get that level of support.
Who would be the better rebounding defenders this year?
And or outside wingers?
Can see the Eagles targeting one of each as they have loaded up in big bodied mids and KP talls the last two drafts.
Yes Andrew Gaff and Matt Priddis two examples.
However the game went past those type of players several years ago. Unfortunately the modern game is all about speed and players get exposed too easily if they lack it.
So 2024 are we expecting a standout #1 pick like last year and others?
OSullivan and Draper have attracted a fair amount of attention.
Early I know and players will show their wares over coming months however I dont see a clear "catch me if you can" #1 at this stage.
Couldnt find a specific 2024 Mid Season draft thread.
So already we can see clubs may be targeting a ruck or tall defender to help cover injury or lack of depth in that area. Some clubs will be looking for a more mature immediate impact recruit where others may look at a 19 or 20 year okd who...
Go list the Eagles father sons
It isn't very long.
Currently we have Jake Waterman, who no club bid on at all when drafted.
Then its back to Cousins.
We had a Brennan who was a serviceable back pocket who didn't make 100 games or play any finals.
Lately Brisbane have been landing more...
Hawks only get priority access if the kid agrees.
If he wants to stay in Brisbane with his family and all his mates at the Lion's he will sign up as an NGA and Lion's will steal him from under the noses of the Hawks.
I actually hope this happens as it would likely result in a massive uproar...
Did he pass rhe sniff test really?
Or were North just desperate to land the next big thing?
20 20 hindsight would suggest North's 'sniff test' wasn't very thorough and they got it wrong.
Depends on the kid.
Number of eligible kids get overlooked by interstate clubs as they don't pass the 'go home factor sniff test.
Chances are father sons heavily linked to Vic clubs would be overlooked for safer options of similar quality.
A Crows poster said it was impossible for you guys to land Draper and Welsh. Simply pointing out that it is possible.
Crows fans may just be going through some grief themselves in a couple of years when Draper is cutting it up in another clubs colours!;)
We all knew that months ago mate.
Looks like the East Coast have finally caught up with reality.
North playing silly buggers along with the easily led and fooled Vic media were the ones muddying the waters.
To good to be true for the Crows all
But getting 7 and trading it to the Ea g Les makes sense. Live pick 8 for our F1st and nothing else......is a steal.
Nice effort mate.:thumbsu:
Not convinced with the Eagles taking Lloyd at 40 odd but that deep its best or the rest. Another 193cm key forward is a inbetween height and the Eagles landed a 193cm Maric in the MSD and they are pretty happy with his first six months. Also retained 193cm Waterman...
So trade pick say 11 out for future picks.
Then after the Walters bid and second bid trade back into the 1st and use that pick.
Logistically that needs another club with the correct pick on speed dial come draft night.
Hawks have access to a couple of FS picks this draft and next.
Are they mids?
The type and quality of these FS options may influence the type of player they chase with live picks.
Caddy IMO goes to either North or Hawthorn anyway. North dont need more mids, maybe a CHB but definately another avenue to goal.,
Hawks may go McKercher but the Tassie go home factor may see him slide out to later in the top 10. Again need goal kickers ahead of more mids. And a CHB.
Blues...
