If arms out is a fifty after a free kick is paid, then why is it not a free kick against when the ball rolls out of play and 2 or 3 players looks at the umpire and put their arms out asking for a free kick? Is that not dissent for disagreeing with the umpires decision.

Don't remember the incident, but did he kick it straight away or a few seconds after the umpire had signaled time?
Also did McDonald go back for the free or walk off his line? If he walked off his line then the quarter is over and kicking the ball away makes no difference.
