Yeah but if one of those 5 games helps your team win a flag and end its premiership drought, then that is the game you will remember for a long long time....thus why the Melbourne fans rate Jackson...and fair enough....think the Freo fans will feel the same if Jackson does the same for Freo in...
Wanted(being the key word) 3 first rounders at the start of the season coming off a flag and Rising star....of course that is not going to happen especially after his 2022 season....but pretty sure Melbourne fans have stated many a time his current currency has devalued....
Totally agree, how many 19 yr old rucks have played in a winning GF of late, and more so, had the approval of their skipper, the number one ruckman of the comp at the time, sit back and let the kid take his role, in the crucial premiership quarter, with his side trailing? That is a true...
Like many of his teammates went missing in the 2nd half. Only 20 and yep agree not worth the long term 700K + salary bandied around in the footy world. A recipe for disaster paying that amount so early on in a players career, one definite way to breed complacency.
Surprised his...
Danster said it....not me, ....but hey let's hope Jackson stays at Melbourne and we can rinse and repeat all this in a couple of years when Jackson is older and hopefully a better footballer then Serong!
Mate danster said if Oliver and Gawn were of the same age, he would flick Oliver before Gawn, because finding a mid is a tad easier then a ruckman.....obviously he wouldn't with your example, because Oliver is 5 years younger then Gawn and hitting his prime, unlike Gawn.
Danster was talking about similar age players, not one 5 years older then the other, but hey if you think Oliver and Gawn are of a similar age then you win and I "loose" this argument.
Pretty sure Melbourne would flick a 28 yr old midfielder like Viney before a 30 yr old ruck of Gawn's ability . Your Oliver / Gawn example just highlights you don't understand danster's point.
How many mids go in the the drafts over the years compared to rucks? Wonder who Freo would choose...
Whose to say Vic born/bred Darcy may want to go home at the end of his current contract.....isn't that due to finish the end of 2024?....by then Darcy will be 26/27? looking for that big final contract......might even go to Melbourne, considering Gawn will be 30+ by then.
Jackson has a couple...
True, I guess the older Darcy gets, the lure home may get stronger, surprised Jackson is even thinking about coming back to WA at his age....sign for another 3 years with the Dees...then come back in his mid 20s, when hopefully by then he is that player he potentially could be...or should be.
Yeah but Darcy isn't 'most players' come end of the day....obviously Darcy will decide closer to the time, but pretty sure Bell would like to know sooner rather then later.....be interesting if Jackson doesn't come on board, Bell tries to get Darcy till 2030.
Freo fans will be hoping Jackson will be a generational talent, if Bell gives up a couple first round picks etc for him....more so, if Darcy decides he wants to go home at the end of his current contract....
But he is not making him out as the messiah.....just merely pointing out as a 19/20 year old ruck , he has and is doing a lot more then other similar types are doing or done in the past
With greater responsibility, fitness, physical/mental maturity, one would think the young fella will, only...
Very true, wonder if Darcy will head home after his contract at Freo ends.....that draw card of home might see Jackson and Darcy swap teams in a couple of years time maybe
Not sure Jackson is ready to leave his good mate Rivers behind....can see both of them back in WA by 2026 tho...just doesn't make sense Jackson jumping the Melbourne premiership window wagon just yet.
They do, though some get to show their mettle in a GF at 19 and some don't....only given here is that Jackson can deliver in a GF.....whilst who knows with Darcy.....hopefully he gets his chance sooner rather then later....
I guess we will never know as Darcy played 15 games before turned 20 in a weak Freo team, whilst Jackson was able to play 24 games in premiership winning team before turning 20.....fingers crossed Jackson can kick on with his footy like Darcy has by the time he turns 24.....
What I asked was, was Darcy even good enough to impact a big game like a GF at the same age...obviously over the last 2 years he would definitely impact a GF match...but as a 19 yr old, not so sure
Kind of remember Jackson playing a big part in turning around that 4 goal deficit in the 3rd quarter of last years GF....though always easy to play well or look good when your team wins by 70 pts....
How good was Darcy at a similar age?....Not sure Darcy at the same age, could of replicated...
