I think it's completely different to an 18 year old demanding a trade after one year. That is deplorable. However a guy thats 23 with a wife and three kids under three, that get's drafted seeking a return home after one season is a bit more understandable.
West Coast are good traders, when a player wants to go or come in, they don't worry about potential picks. They worry about the player involved. We'll get it done slightly overs in picks but player welfare is the most important. Likely to be the first trade on Monday.
I doubt we manufacture a pick higher than our first pick, being GC 2nd rounder unless we get some good compo for Gaff. knowing the AFL doesn't tell anyone the compo formula we probably get a 3rd rounder for him lel
Thats a stupid and outrageous thought.
For starters he isn't an outside player, he's wins his own ball regularly. Clearance machine.
We also have Gaff, Yeo, Shuey and Redden who are more than capable mids. So it's not like a club like us would require him to be our saviour.
Brownlow votes mean nothing really. Every umpire I've met has a warped view of the game. They don't know the most dominant player of the season. 2004 Brownlow Tredrea, Riewoldt and Chad Cornes were favourites and none of them did anything in the brownlow. Umpires know jack s**t about the sport...
I'd like to see the intentional bottoming out as our list strategy. Our wooden spoon was a disgrace and if it was "intentional" as you sggest it was the stupidest f******* time to do it due to GC being introduced.
I see your point and not sure I got what I meant across.
The requirement to spend years at the bottom is bad list management. Clubs should always have an eye on the flag and the future. 5 year rebuilds are a croc of s**t and a phoney.
Yeh we bottomed out, but it was never an intentional part...
Footballing wise I absolutely agree, family wise it's understandable. I think it's more understandable than a those kids leaving Brisbane. They were young single men that cried. The guy has three kids under 2 with no family support.
I'm fairly confident he'll stay. I don't really think anything he's said has been obvious that he's leaving. He actually said pretty similar stuff last time, maybe the only difference is Melbourne are good.
I could get egg on my face, but I doubt he leaves.
They shouldn't protect clubs from trading first rounders. Allow them to make that call. If clubs think they get more value from trading the first rounder, I don't see the issue.
Wouldn't be the number one mid at the Eagles or Dockers.
A lot can be said of learning your game at the lower levels. He probably got tagged last season..
I’d be weary chasing gaff if I was Carlton. No doubt the eagles would go straight to Cripps and dangle something very lucrative in front of him
