?????? Steven Handley was picked up in mid-season draft of 91 at pick number 24.
You're probably thinking of Stephen Hooper, who was the number 1 pick but only played 21 games. But as we only traded David Cameron and Stephen Hamilton for the pick, we didn't particularly lose out.
Don't know that anyone at Geelong will do it. Without a pick in the top 30 and not being on the lookout for any particular type of player means a lack of interest and we'll take whoever is best come our pick.
So if you want to do it, fine by me. Take the best available at 32 (but not a...
They can be paid uneven amounts, but as far as the salary cap is concerned, the amount is averaged so there is no benefit in a back-ended or front-loaded contract.
Mate, unless Nathan is made captain and given legend status at the club next year, I for one, will be ripping up my membership card and spitting it in the face of Brian Cook.
Agitated [GRRRR smiley]
Is there any time limit on this rule? For example say, Joe Loser's dad played for Claremont in 1987 and 88, do the games Loser senior played count in those years count even though the Weagles were already in existence and Loser Snr wasn't good enough to play for them?
They can have Chambers or Loats for literally anything, except a player. Chambers at least makes an adequate second ruck, but he is excess to requirements and we need to delist players
Moloney will be a big loss for us, but I'm happy with what we got in return, even if we don't end up with Ottens. Should be a fantastic player for the demons, just a matter of who is the bigger chav out of him and Yze.
He may be hotly pursued, but unless Port actually offer something that means we in a significantly better position than we were before, and the only way that would happen is if the Ottens deal relied on it, then why would Geelong bother?
You'd have no hope of getting Johnson for 12, the guy just does some amazing things and is worth much more. Moloney wouldn't be far off the mark, he'd be good another 150 games with the sort of aggresive grunt you sometimes need to get back into matches. Small question mark over attitude...
So that happens, what do Geelong lose exactly??
As opposed to Richmond, who have to pay Ottens what he wants and effectively lose the 1st pick in the PSD?
So who will the loser be?
And if you do draft him, you'll look like major fools for foolishly tossing away the no 1 PSD pick and being forced to meet Otten's pay demands. Ottens will be a winner, Geelong will be no worse off and Richmond will have lost out. Not to mention the fact that a member of your squad will be...
The two problems with that theory is that a) Whitnall isn't going to St Kilda and b) Ottens has stated that he will only consider being traded to Geelong or Sydney and he has demonstrated his commitment to that by killing the North bid.
Well now that Thompson is gone from the Hawks, there is salary cap room at Hawthorn for Ottens. Richmond would probably be happy to do a deal with Hawthorn along the lines of Jade Rawlings last year, just to annoy Ottens
Your right!
Stenglein, 2nd in the Crows B&F, narrowly beaten
Ottens, 8th in the wooden spooners B&F and a long, long way off the best players
Well, it's obvious who the better player is, isn't it.
Midfield coach? I don't think so.
I heard an interview with the CEO or somebody like that at Adelaide and he gave Rehn a big wrap, was very impressed by the thoroughness and professionalism displayed at his interview.
I'm fairly certain there is a rule that says that in terms of the salary cap, the salary has to be averaged out over the term of the contract regardless of how you actually pay him, so your plan won't work. But if you get rid of Thompson you should be able to afford him, so I'd say the Hawks...
No you're right, this comes in from next season, although you can only have two veteran players in excess of the squad of 38, but as far as payments go, you got it right.
I'd say things are looking decidedly dodgy for Miller. It's bad enough that he let it get to a situation where players are embittered with the club and want out. But then he looks like he might have shout his mouth off too quickly on a trade. The best that Richmond might get offered is a mid...
