It’s taken decades for the riff raff in Ellenbrook to get a train line. No way are they set to become a city. Bullsbrook/muchea more likely than Ellenbrook

    2019 Financial Results

Optus stadium is always going to be more expensive as with everything in Perth. If people want to go to the footy and they can’t get to a west coast game then freo is always an option, But they don’t fill the stadium. so the supply is there but the demand is clearly not. Making a new team won’t...

    2019 Financial Results

I would have to strongly disagree with the sentiment that you need to see the team live in order to understand. There has been an entire generation of Perth based west coast supporters that have probably either never seen a live game or been to a handful at the very most. Not to mention the...

    2019 Financial Results

I can’t see why any west coast supporters would jump off such a gravy train of success for a new team. If anything a 3rd team with draft and afl assistance would probably dilute the freo fan base and they don’t even fill the stadium as is. 3rd team won’t bring any new viewers or money

    Expansion 3rd Western Australian club

I always thought being named west coast and not Perth helped the eagles become so widely supported. Even now people I know feel that freo represents the city of freo and west coast represented everywhere else from eucla to Albany, the goldfields to the Kimberly, the city and the country.

You’re probably right. Seen a ton of hawks supporters around and there seems to be a lot of Richmond people crawling out of the woodwork now

    Expansion 3rd Western Australian club

No chance of Optus selling tickets that cheap. You will be lucky to have half a lunch on that money

    Expansion 3rd Western Australian club

North is probably the only team that could do “ok” in Perth. There’s a surprisingly large north Melbourne supporter base in Perth that I’ve noticed. But still wouldn’t be enough to survive if the vic support does off due to relocation

Tasmania Congratulations on Tassie License. Mens team to enter 2028. Womens team TBA. Other details TBA 3/5

Are the ground dimensions similar? If not it would make it harder to establish tactical home dominance

Tasmania Congratulations on Tassie License. Mens team to enter 2028. Womens team TBA. Other details TBA 3/5

Bit of fun with hypothetical lineups If the tassie team nabbed every Tasmanian on an AFL list in 2019 then this is my 2 Tasmania FB: Kolodjashnij — L.Jones — Kolodjashnij HB: Howe — Pearce — Birchall CT: Weller — Hall — Thurlow HF: C.Jones — Brown — Thomas FF: Dixon — Reiwoldt —...

Only way it could work is to be a regional team such as Geraldton or Albany. But those places don’t have the stadium to support the team or the population in the right economic bracket. WA3 is probably 25 years too late

I used to live in tapping and I can’t say I had a burning desire to have a team representing us. Hell im a districts supporter even though I lived up there
  13. coniglio_number1

    Expansion 3rd Western Australian club

There’s been plenty of spare seats at freo games especially this season and if people were desperate to see any love footy regardless of allegiance then you would think freo would be selling out games as well

No AFL team for Tasmania, league boss Gillon McLachlan announces

Given how even the comp is becoming I can see the league expanding with 2 new teams in tassie and NT. Concessions would be close to what GC and GWS got but probably with the mini draft removed and probably not the extent of draft picks that we got. Also give each club exclusive access to NT...

Yet the same can’t be said about Fremantle. One powerful club does not mean all the others will be just as big

    Expansion 3rd Western Australian club

Given that the afl is all about business and money I doubt WA would be the next target for them. This state has been well and truly conquered and any additional money made will be a pittance as it has been stated before, wa football fans already have a team they support
  18. coniglio_number1

    Expansion 3rd Western Australian club

There’s no “new money” for the afl in WA. Everyone here that follows football is already either rusted on to west coast or Freo. Or they support eastern states teams which is a very small minority. If the league wants “new money” then they need to look at tassie and NT as the primary new...

With introducing GC and GWS has the AFL spent its money wisely?

They started hating us when they beat us in the prelim. The hate has only fermented during the offseason. I'm still confused about why they obsess about a team they beat. It's almost like we knocked them out of finals?

Do we need another AFL Club or are there too many as it is?

Maybe. But would you be happy if Geelong never got out of div 2?
  21. coniglio_number1

Do we need another AFL Club or are there too many as it is?

And watch all the talented div 2 players walk out on teams to play div 1. Div 2 teams will never succeed at div 1 again. How would you feel if your team was a div 2 cellar dweller forever playing at sub par grounds with sub par players because Collingwood keep buying your stars

Do we need another AFL Club or are there too many as it is?

    Northern Territory crocs or thunder

Now we will get a rant from the docker that lured you about how west coast isn't on the map etc
  24. coniglio_number1

Do we need another AFL Club or are there too many as it is?

Relegation with a salary cap means teams will struggle to ever get back to div 1. Players will want to play div 1 and will leave for success. Lower clubs won't be able to outbid div 1 teams for players if restricted by salary cap
  25. coniglio_number1

Do we need another AFL Club or are there too many as it is?

But we have you macreadie, Pickett, Palmer, Whiley, jaksch, sumner, lamb, plowman and Phillips. All first rounders or part of our amazing concessions
  26. coniglio_number1

Do we need another AFL Club or are there too many as it is?

Harrison macreadie was rated top 5 earlier and was one of the reasons why everyone got huffy about the academies. He is at Carlton Ryan garthwaite is the best 1v1 defender in the draft. He is at Richmond Jack Steele was bid on in the first round. He is at saint kilda Logan Austin looks like...

Do we need another AFL Club or are there too many as it is?

We share our first round draft players with Victorian clubs all the time. Just ask Carlton

Do we need another AFL Club or are there too many as it is?

Sounds like we should set up some sort of academy to boost the numbers of kids coming from NSW and QLD
