I feel bad for thinking it, but my mind keeps going to what happened with Shannon Matthews

I don't think they would have reunited her with her mother though if she was somehow involved though.
I picked up the book a couple of weeks ago, really good summary of the case. Tries to link an unsolved 1975 murder to it as well, which is the first I've heard of expanding the potential victims list.
From reading the book, I got the impression that the author doesn't necessarily think that...

I agree to an extent. I’m still a big fan and contribute to the Patreon, but there’s definitely something missing these days. Looking at the episode credits, the two writers that did most of the ‘classic’ episodes, Anna Priestland and Victoria Dieffenbacher, no longer write for the show. I don’t...
Latest episode is a part 6 to the EAR/ONS epic from a couple of years ago. Pretty cool that they were able to provide an ending to what seemed an unsolvable case when it was released.
There's a big step up from smashing a glass on someone's head to murdering and mutilating a body. All the accounts of Vivienne being violent come from Fergus (such as him coming home late, getting into bed and Vivienne punching him). The words that he said Vivienne said at his last meeting...
I got the feeling that Fergus and his family may be pretty litigious. Probably playing it safe.
Not sure it fits all the evidence, but Fergus killing Vivienne due to an argument after the hospital and then framing Beth's death as being done by Vivienne could be a possibility. Requires his...
Have been very interested in this case since Casefile covered it a couple of years back. A mysterious death of a popular young woman in a small community, a missing mother and the man stuck between them. Still yet to hear a convincing theory about how the events of this case played out, there's...
Other than the main ones, cases like Frankston and Tynong North, Susan Snow and Bruce Nickle, Amy Allwine and The Yorkshire Ripper are ones that I like to go back to from time to time.

Right on average for a manslaughter sentence.
Seems far too low given what we do know, wouldn’t be surprised if the prosecution appeals that
The big thing that suggests that they may have been is the twins slept through all the commotion going on in and around the room - not having kids myself I don't know how likely that would be in a situation like that. Surely if you'd thought that Maddie had been kidnapped from that same room...

Every time I think that the parents have done it, I keep coming back to the timeline. At most they have four hours where Madeline is unaccounted for by anyone outside of the parents and the Tapas 7 - in that time period, they have to...

It’s nowhere near one per day, it was just over one per week. And far more people die on the roads than are murdered - Victoria alone had more vehicle related deaths than the homicide amount in the whole of Australia. Random attacks are so rare, that’s why when they do happen they are...

They only worked out it was him after the third one because he was spotted acting suspiciously just prior to the attack. His spree lasted about 2 months. This (alleged) guy was identified and found in 3 days.
It’s amazing these days how quickly these people are caught. Think back 20/30 years and people like Denyer and Glover would be able to get away with these sorts of crimes for weeks or months at a time. It seems these guys are caught before they can become serial offenders nowadays.

Nice short podcast about a mystery that unravelled over 30 years that involved bodies in barrels, numerous aliases and a lot of kitty litter. Really rated this one.
How many people donate because it makes themselves feel better/look better on social media I wonder. Would explain why people are in such a rush to give randoms who they barely know their hard earned.
Case 100 is out this weekend. The Beaumont children, which works as a great companion piece to the first episode, Wanda Beach. Those two cases in the mid 60s pretty much changed Australia's attitudes to the freedoms their children had and brought about the much more watchful attitudes we have now.
Jeez, if they find her body around the swimming pool they're going to look pretty ******* stupid for not having searched there more thoroughly in the past.
Seems that some of the murders occured when the Death Penalty was considered unconstitutional in the States, so there's a debate about whether it can be sought in those cases.

I kept listening to it expecting a big twist, but as you described it was just a horrific crime perpretrated by a low life scumbag.
The cyanide poisoning one was draw-dropping - if she hadn't been so greedy, the wife would have got clean away with murder!
Honestly, it just seems that people in that area didn't give a s**t about it back then. Plus, it was one of those open secrets, something everyone knew, but didn't really talk about.
Given the movement being made now, it's probably more likely that teachers from that era will be charged with...
They have to be careful given that, if arrested, there's a good chance that these people will go to a trial in front of a jury. Putting too much information out there could prejudice a jury, leading to a good defense attorney being able to argue that any trial is unfair to their client.
Probably best for us not to mention his name on this board. Hinch did so under parliamentary privlege - transcript https://www.openaustralia.org.au/senate/?id=2017-06-13.185.1
The timeline's interesting. It seems that Paul and Marilyn were away camping when Lyn disappeared. Did they return before Chris went to get Joanne, which was only a couple of days after Lyn was last seen? If they got back before Chris did that, it's more likely that she could be at Paul's place...
