Would pay some decent money to get prime Bruce and Sandy back for the granny. Really anyone is better than the current crew

Opinion What unpopular AFL opinions do you have? - Part 2

Yeah that's true and something that I haven't thought of. Maybe an under 20 comp, could be full of unlisted/local guys, somewhat how the vfl teams are filled at the moment. Like i said it wouldn't happen but just interesting to think about

Opinion What unpopular AFL opinions do you have? - Part 2

Would never happen due to state leagues and cost but the AFL should have a seniors, reserves and under 18/19 comp. Every league in the country currently has this so the AFL should too

    Why is the game broken?

Games adopted soccer's mindset of defend first then attack with defensive pressure. I mean how many times do you see a player get a mark at 70-80 mtrs only to wait and not kick it to a one on one forward instead waits then bombs it to a huge pack in thr pocket. The team then locks the ball in...

Rules The new man on the mark rule is utterly ridiculous.

Disagree, the congestion issue didnt just start in 2020 because of limited game time. Its been getting progressively worse and worse since about 2014. Got to the point where many games were unwatchable. Glad they have tried to open the game up, still think interchanges is way too high. The game...

Free Agency is a disaster for the competition and needs a huge rethink

In what world is crouch pick 3? He's a middle tier player at best

So what was that about the game being in trouble...

3 really good games with the Pies vs Eagles the best of the year and one of the best in past few years. Still hate the 30 guys around the ball and seeing a fullforward standing ahead of the centre square on a kick out. This is were the game can improve

Geelong: why are they just not good enough?

Still doesnt highlight the glaringly obvious issues that I mentioned above. Yes we missed 3 very gettable goals. The coaching and player selection done properly would of given far more opportunities and would of made things harder for Port

Geelong: why are they just not good enough?

9 mostly tall defenders in a team none of who provide any run and carry is good team balance? Blicavs played his best footy of his career in the back line and has been proven he's not great as a Ruckmen. Where did he play last night? Miers basically the only specialist small forward on our list...

Geelong: why are they just not good enough?

Coach just has no idea. Plays the wrong players and plays half the team out of postion. Certain players have appalling finals records so that's on them but the game plan doesn't work in finals which has been proven how many times now? But no better try it again.

Can Hawthorn succeed while ignoring the elite end of the draft? - Part 2

Not a big fan of putting all faith into draft picks. I mean Geelongs highest pick in the past 10 years is pick 10 so it hardly the be all, but then you see the kings, Walsh, rowels dominating games so early it does make you want the top picks

Which club do you think will be pushing for a flag first - Adelaide, Hawthorn or Sydney?

Swans, maybe crows if a few youngsters kick on. That Hawks list especially the younger players is the worst in the comp

Roast State of the modern game; Clarkson

The game did naturally evolve and it went ultra defensive and clogged around the ball. Umpiring and rule changes have had very little impact, having 17-18 players in the back 70 metres has nothing to do with either, that's all coaching. Players kicking short along the boundary or down the line...

Roast State of the modern game; Clarkson

Got to disagree mate, but respect your opinion. I'll share my 2 cents. 1. Teams are going to set up behind the play regardless of how long a kick in takes, a set shot takes 30 seconds that's ample time. Teams only ever kick wide from kick ins now. Down the middle is high risk/high reward but...

Roast State of the modern game; Clarkson

For me the 16 a side doesn't really change defensive mindsets, coaches can still clog the back 50 with 15 players but that is purely a guess Easy ones that will help are limit rotations to say 50? and no nominating ruckmen. After that trial everything Zones Backwards play on Less players...

As much I don't really like it I think something like this is the next obvious rule change

Roast State of the modern game; Clarkson

It all lies with the coaching IMO, how many times do you see players refuse to kick long inside 50 to a 1 on 1 and instead kick short side ways to a player who gets held up anyway and not to mention having all 36 players within 80 metres of the ball. Coaches prefer winning 8 goals to 4 than...

Geelong - 0 Grand Final appearances from their last 7 finals series

We have one of if not the worst coach in the comp, those stats are actually a good effort considering this. We also have a lot of downhill skiers who go missing in finals

Hocking has lost TV rights an ad per game

Well if goals are that far down and ome of AFLs key goals is to increase scoring, than you can guarantee more rule changes next year. Hopefully drop the interchange and scrap the nominating ruck

    Interchange: Q1 (4). Q2 (8). Q3 (12). Q4 (16). Total 40 In-play.

Should be cut to 40 or 50 max for 2 reasons. Better players stay out on the ground longer Players getting injured doesnt disadvantage their team to the level it currently does If it reduces congestion that's a bonus

Most memorable Grand final memories excluding your own team

1998 stands out for some reason even though I was a teenager. Just remember North missing goal after goal and completely dominating to only end up being well beaten, strange memorable game. 2016 Everyone was going for the dogs and they got there. Great last quarter
