West Coast Eagles Priority Pick (2024)

I would prefer a package that removes all FA compensation and priority picks as well as significantly increasing the draft price for F/S and Academy players. Ie just a fairer competition. Else, if North want to use their strengths ie begging for picks, let West Coast use theirs and spend by...

    Opinion VICBias - Genuine Discussion

Soft cap is definitely a rule that favours minnow Vic clubs to the detriment of the players and competition. Why sport science and S&C is included in it is a complete joke. Teams from WA in particular and the other non Vic clubs shouldn't be held back on finding new ways for their players to...

Opinion Unpopular opinion about your own club

What coach has a plan b that is noticeable to fans? Most of the coaching is done in the week, with players told different scenarios. Game day is probably more motivational and reminder of the plan. That said, I don't think us as fans can ever see the moves that coaches pull in game? Are you...

negative, but it'd just be good to have equal coverage on the networks when they're national broadcasts.

    Opinion VICBias - Genuine Discussion

Pretty much every show on FoxFooty is national broadcast. Sunday Footy show is national broadcast. The ABC does a national broadcast show on Sundays on the radio. The ABC also do a local broadcast footy/sports show on a Saturday Morning in WA. They're able to differentiate. Channel 7s local...

    Opinion VICBias - Genuine Discussion

What happens on Vic radio, nightly news or local toilet papers is irrelevant, it's not about local media. The issue around equal broadcast is on TV shows that are broadcast nationally. The same host in Vic do a lot of both and they don't really put much effort in when it comes to teams outiside...

Gil McLachlan Stepping down as AFL CEO

Nothing! Says he’s stepping down at the conclusion of the season in April…..and we still haven’t got a replacement.

Agree with the lottery whole heartedly but would prefer something more similar to the NBA. Finishing last is quite an incentive in our league

Rules The AFL needs to bring in an anti-tampering rule

In the USA general managers/coaches/owners get fined for mentioning a contracted player and the potential to recruit them. If this was the cause Dimma would have been fined in 2018. Same with Rance when he spoke about the apple cart

Rules The AFL needs to bring in an anti-tampering rule

There needs to be anti tampering rules with contracted players. No player under contract with a club should be meeting with opposing club officials, doing tours of their facility, being spoken about in the media by opposition officials or meeting with leadership groups. Sure managers can chat...

    Future of player movement

Yep Im big on this. I believe raising the draft age would greatly improve player retention. Let the players finish their growing in their home state, play state league footy, work part time or go to uni and see we'll see how bad they want it. My bet is more players would be ready to move out by...

    Jumper clash fails

Disagree. Royal v Navy is hard to tell apart when you’re at the ground and looking at the other end. Carlton should have been in white or west coast in gold with blue shirts (just want this once or twice a year ffs)

    Jumper clash fails

There’s enough one off jumpers to design something to get around clashes, but maybe if the AFL implemented a colour rush guernsey each as a clash/contrast jumper, clashes could be avoided further? no doubt some people will cry calling it a cash grab but just get on with it! Maybe a new CEO will...

Rules The AFL needs to bring in an anti-tampering rule

4 year initial contracts then straight into RFA and from then onwards FA each time you're out of contract. Increase the length of the Free Agency Period to allow clubs and players to discuss their futures/make plans. Followed by the trade fortnight/week at the end culminating in the draft, but...

Rules The AFL needs to bring in an anti-tampering rule

Should also have firm contracts. If you're traded mid contract, you're traded with the exact same contract and have to serve out that deal to the new club

Rules The AFL needs to bring in an anti-tampering rule

Agree with an Anti-Tampering rule of sorts. I definitely think one should be be in place for any club official, coach, admin or player talking about another contracted player, regardless if they are coming out of contract at the end of the year. A few examples would be - Rance speaking...

Analysis Where does Buddy Franklin rank amongst the greats?

Buddy is the greatest of his era. No denying, he is an absolute superstar. The only way to compare players of different eras is to compare them to their own era and how much better they are than everyone else. How many Standard deviations they are ahead of the average in a bell curve. Without...

Opinion What unpopular AFL opinions do you have? - Part 2

I think Grand Finals in Melbourne should stay 2:40pm But I would think a majority of west aussies, like myself would think the Saturday 5:40pm timely would suit Perth best for Grand Final. It’s probably the most favoured time slot here in the West.

Opinion What unpopular AFL opinions do you have? - Part 2

So we ruin the spectacle for the fans in Perth? Should be 4:40pm WST start (6:40pm EST) or even 5:40pm WST The 2018 prelim against Melbourne was grand cause west coast won, but * me it was so hot in the sun that day.

Opinion What unpopular AFL opinions do you have? - Part 2

Not adverse to it being random, but I would probably prefer it just to be set in stone. You play every team the same amount of times over X years, just rinse repeat. Alternatively games against opposition you play twice is only worth 2 points. Takes the gaming the fixture out of it.
