What a joke the NRL is... any miniscule semblance of integrity it had left went out the window.
Anyone else in the comp would have got weeks for that deliberate head butt, but cannot have the NSW poster boy missing origin now can we.
Re: Greg Ingles to play AFL
He loves living in Melbourne, has moved his whole family down here, and if required to be cut from Storm due to salary cap has said he'd rather stay here and play AFL than move and play NRL.
Wonder if his management has reminded him about the draft though and how...
Not sure there.
Structuring payment methods to avoid paying tax is totally different to being a knowing accomplice in rorting the salary cap.
The salary cap plays a huge role in list management, which is the primary responsibility of the coach. No way Bellamy would not have been aware of...
Part of the dual sets of financial records kept by the Storm were two sets of player contracts.
I'd imagine in this case that the contracts lodged with the NRL would not be the same as those individually negotiated with players and their managers.
According to the players they'd be getting...
How many players are aware of what other players are being paid though?
Players (or most likely their managers) negotiate individual contracts and would be unaware if their slice of the pie is declared inside or outside the cap.
Third party payments are legal if declared within the cap...
I have no desire to watch them on tv anymore, nevermind fork out hard earned to watch them play live.
Be very surprised if they get 10k, very surprised.
Only reason it was uncovered now was the NRL auditors stumbled across the second set of books Storm kept, detailing the real contractual amounts.
I believe this happened on April 13th and its taken this long to get Storm to fess up.
Without this information the NRL would have been none the...
Why would they not?
Anyone who may have leaked this from inside the NRL may lose their jobs, but if a bloke lays a bet based on info from an inside source does that invalidate the bet?
News Ltd has sent in a team of Deloitte forensic accountant sniffer dogs to more accurately reconstruct this web of deceit, and from the outside looking in it looks like (CEO) Waldron was the architect with (COO) Hanson his right hand man.
Assuming enough evidence is found by said sniffer dogs...
Once again Storm plays another ordinary game and come away with the points north of the border.
Their defense this year so far has been very good, but other aspects of their game has been wanting.
Penrith was simply appalling... how can professional players be so lacking in coordination...
Their draw is all to do with the opening of the new rectangular stadium in Melbourne... which is May 7th I think.
From memory their first six or so games are away, but then they get a string of home games in the new state of the art stadium.
Convicted then some ******* judge let him off on appeal.
What a joke our justice system is when a bloke can get off scott free after glassing his girlfriend.
He should be lucky she is not my sister or I'd have chopped significant sections of both his achilles out with a chinese cleaver.
Gould was actually more bias this game towards Parra than towards NSW in the state of origin. It was that bad and he should be embarrassed at the job he did today.
He even had Sterling embarrassed at one stage trying to defend the no penalty call when Inglis was taken out chipping into the...
Complete joke, but expected.
Deliberatelyt knee a bloke in the temple after he scores a try and you only get a week.
I hope Storm smach his bible bashing arse next week and show him up for the defensive pretender he really is.
Most players accept this for what it is... PR and marketing for a new club trying to establish some sort of base in a very competitive market.
I'm sure some players may crack the Jimmy Smits, but that is like a Qantas pilot being filthy at the money paid to John Travolta for the promotional...
Or course it is a PR stunt, and a very good one.
It will guarantee:
- more Qld press coverage next year as Hunt "develops"
- big Qld press coverage for GC's debut game
- more Qld press coverage in GC's inaugural season
- more banana benders watching GC games during the first couple of...
This was definitely bad for the NRL to have a bloke knocked out cold and not be suspended or sent off.
I can understand some people enjoying and wanting to glorify this sort of violence, but from a business perspective this was harmful to a code struggling financially and looking to recruit...
If he found White's punch offensive, what would he have thought of this...
AkP6NJMWT4s
... which is even more relevant as ONE has acquired rights to show UFC content.
Sentenced to 16 months, eligible for parole in 8 months.
Apparently he is appealing the decision, but hopefully the sentence sticks or is even increased on appeal.
Great news.
Personally I don't think he is suited to union.
Bit like Sailor when he changed codes for the money... he played for the Wallabies but was a very limited winger.
Good.
Any sporting club whose main avenue of financial survival is based on gambling should go broke. Any steps the govt can take to make gambling a less attractive business proposition is a move in the right direction.
They rode their luck but NZ deserved the win.
Slater and Monaghan's errors were unforgivable... NZ played very well but those two gift tries was the difference between the sides.
Good for the game this result... hope this loss gets Ricky Stuart the arse as coach, arrogant prick of a bloke.
Think this might be Manly's year, especially with all the injury and judiciary trouble Storm has endured the last couple of weeks. Be a fitting way for Beaver to go out.
However, Storm play their best when their backs are to the wall. An 8 day break will freshen the players up and an angry...
