The article linked doesn't really say that at all

You could just as easily take from that that the trade was blocked by the AFL after the Trigg confessed

In fact the sentence below was the only reference to "blocked" in the article. An article focused on the overall trade period, not specific to the "fiasco" at all

"Then the scandal with Tippett's out-of-contract agreement with Adelaide blocked the Crows chance to trade the Queenslander - and then fill the need for a defender."
