What to do with these people? There's a nuffy (i believe that's the politically correct term these days) who does the rounds at my local shopping centre. T-shirt tucked into his elatic waste shorts that hang above his belly button. He walks around shouting.
Unfortuntaely the shop keepers have no choice but to ignore him. Not out of lack of compassion or understanding, nor ignorance. It's just that as soon as they are friendly with him he's there everyday and they can't get rid of him. Bad for business.
Just last week I was in Big W when a different nuffy walked up to the counter of the CD/DVD section and asked for a tape recorder:
Nuffy: Do you have tape recorders?
Storeperson: No, you could trying Tandy though
Nuffy: Damn! I hate Tandy!
Me: There's a store out on the main road called 1985. They have them.
Nuffy: I'll go look for it.
I probably shouldn't have said it but I can just image this guy trawling the High St for days and walking up to people and saying "Do you know where 1985 is, I have to go there to get a tape recorder".
