Do we? Or is this just one of those things people assume or lean on to explain his low output?

When the opposition kicks a behind, or one of our talls marks it deep in defence, I can pretty much guarantee that Boyd's instructions are not to lock down on the opposition small forward. In the modern game, rebound is king and every player is expected to provide an option - be it on the 45 degree kick back for a switch, or the short 15-20m outlet kick on the boundary, or running past for a handball receive. No defender is tasked with "locking down" a forward when we win the ball back in defense.

I think Boyd is either not getting to the right spots in transition to get fed the ball, or more likely, he simply doesn't have the tools and traits to either break away from, or outright beat, whichever player is locking him down when we have the ball.
