She's too smart for that, because if she actually levelled any accusation she knows she would be taken to court and absolutely torn apart because she's a hack.

Rubbish.

All she said or implied is …

  • That Collingwood’s characterisation that Melbourne “poached” Pettyfor was BS. (C’mon, we all accuse the club of spin all the time, why would this be a surprise to anyone?)
  • That leaders within Collingwood’s footy department weren’t getting along. (Not unusual in any workplace. All the more so when the boss has gone away on a 6 month sabbatical. Edit: Craig Kelly has confirmed this)
  • That Pettyfor was happy to get out of the joint. (We all love Collingwood FC dearly, but we don’t have to work there)
  • That there are women who are still at Collingwood who aren’t happy with the way things went down.

Nothing more, nothing less.

Don’t you think that it’s a bit silly that people are going all tin foil hat trying to read between the lines, and then having a crack at Caro for what she didn’t say?

It’s been proven time and time again that a stable off field transforms your on field performance.

Whilst they have tried to play it down, confirming friction between “Leppitsch and Bolton” is not good business.

The friction seems to have arisen due to the sharing of GWs role.
Naturally both men will want to make their own mark in such an opportunity …and the club shouldn’t be splitting the role….it should be for one person only.
Pick the best man and that’s it.

There was no friction when everyone knew their roles and responsibilities accordingly …when you muddy the waters by having multiple people perform one man’s job….this is what you get.
And it’s probably to no surprise that it’s rubbing off and being felt across the entire club and then the on field leaders and players themselves.

Some of the comments here are cringe worthy. I haven't liked her takes on Collingwood the last two weeks - didn't her Arrow last week feature Maynard? Think it did. This week a non-story on a resignation from the footy department.

That said, she's the best footy journalist in the land and has been for a long time. In a totally male industry, she forged a career and became one of the best of all time.

I don't always agree with her, but I tune in every week to hear her take on the state of play. Without Caro, Footy Classified would just be like all of the other shows desperately seeking relevance.

God help us if Carro is the best footy journalist in the land.Best at peddling innuendo and rumours,yes..Beat at pursuing her own agenda when she has someone in her sights, yes. But when it comes to actually dealing with verifiable facts,no way.

When you hear Caro say she was Wright's 2ic, you can see why there'd be issues and why she wasn't handed GWs role. It'd be like a school principal with no teaching experience. The respect from the staff she'd have to manage just wouldn't be there.

She’s not.
Custard Pants is a gossip columnist. She just specialises in afl rather than Hollywood.
Some of her material more closely resembles Tabloid sensationalism than serious journalism.

Good football journalists are able to analyse games, players, make factual commentary and talk about strategic football matters without bias.
These people are in short supply.

Wrighty here again - I've asked for a blessing so everyone can get on with it - disappointed to hear people are arguing over pineapple on pizza.

So in the last week or so, we’ve learned that things are not going so swimmingly at the Pies. Regarding the arrangements put in place to cover Wright’s absence, one of the senior members of his team has walked, and (as confirmed by Kelly), there is some ‘tension’ between Bolton and Leppa. We’re also hearing - I’ll call it gossip because I very much hope it’s not true - that some of the women who work at the club are not happy.

Then we’ve heard of the awful trolling and abuse (as distinct from criticism which is valid) of one of our own players who’s down on form and confidence.

Good one Pies.

Winning this week and bringing the focus back onto the team and the coaches - where it belongs - will help enormously.

A leader doesn’t have to have been a practitioner in the field of the people who they’re managing.

Some of the best leaders I’ve seen have been people who haven’t been. But some of the worst have been as well.

Leadership is a different skill to production. But it depends how big the company is and how vertical the management chain is. Your foreman needs to understand the shop floor really well or the workers won't respect them. But if the leader is leading other managers to manage better it's a different story. The further away from production the less important production knowledge is. Footy clubs aren't big and Wright sits directly above the coaches who coach and the recruiters who recruit.

Sooo someone who hasn’t played or coached football and was in the media department at the Dees 2yrs ago thinks they should be head of football over Bolton and Leppa, both former head coaches. Ok…..

I think it would be a bigger issue if we promoted her over Bolton or Leppa.

Will she expect to fill in as head coach later in the year when Goodwin is sacked?
Seems like Dee's created a position for Pettyfor which better suited her skill set & experience. In communications & media. Something they clearly need help in.

Personally I'd rather keep Leppa & Bolton with their football operations experience, so good luck to Clare.
