Some players play their entire career for 1 AFL team, while others have successful stints at 2 or more teams, and when their name is mentioned, you can envisage them wearing the jumpers of all the clubs they played for.

On other occasions, however, a player may have a successful career at 1 or 2 clubs, and have a short-lived stint at another, and seeing them wearing the jumper of this team looks quite odd.

For example, Terry Wallace and Paul Hudson both played for Hawthorn, the Bulldogs and Richmond, but while they had very good careers with the Hawks and Dogs, their time at the Tigers was fleeting and easily forgotten.

Peter McKenna crossed from Collingwood to Carlton late in his career, and Sam Kekovich had a brief stint at the Magpies after a long career at North Melbourne. Peter Bedford left South Melbourne to play for Carlton, and John Pitura also left the Swans for the Tigers. When the name Brad Hardie is mentioned, one immediately thinks of him starring in the Bulldogs red, white and blue jumper, or proving one of the Bears' few match-winners in the maroon & gold BB jumper in Brisbane's early, years, but he also played a handful of games for Collingwood in 1992.

Barry Mitchell is remembered at Sydney and Carlton, but lasted just 1 season at the Magpies in 1993. John Hutton had a brief but memorable career in the early-mid 1990s, but while one remembers him playing with the Bears in 1992 and the fledgling Dockers in 1995, his brief career at the Sydney Swans in 1993 isn't so memorable.

Some champion players start off their careers with brief stints at other clubs. For example Justin Madden began at Essendon, Gary Ablett Snr at Hawthorn, Derek Kickett at North Melbourne and Nathan Buckley at the Brisbane Bears, while Dale Kickett, who had a long career at the Fremantle Dockers from 1995-2002, began his career in the early 1990s with brief stints at Fitzroy, West Coast, St Kilda and Essendon. Another journeyman was Justin Murphy, who began with a handful of games for Richmond in 1994 & 1995, crossed to Carlton in 1996-2000, had a year stint at Geelong in 2001, returned to Carlton for several years, then finished off with Essendon.

If anybody has any pictures of these players or others who began their careers at unfamiliar clubs as rookies before being traded to another team for a long career; players who were at a number of teams, some of which were only short, unmemorable stints; or veteran players who briefly played at another team in the twilight of their careers, it would be interesting to see them.

I can't find a pic of Merv Neagle in a Swans jumper...

Scott Thompson at the Demons before he left for Adelaide and home.

Jeff White during his brief stint at Freo before he did the same for Melbourne and home.

Fremantles greatest ever player Peter Bell during his 2 time premiership career with North.
(FWIW I know he played over a 100 games for North. Some of you are very subtle)
