On 5AA tonite Sando spoke the following:
Its not verbatim but there were some interesting comments I thought...bolded below

Need to mature quicker.
Won more quarters than Geelong.
Third best attack in the competition.
Good clearance numbers.
Defence = 11th…numbers were the same as last year because the game has changes.
14 of 18 crows players are not defending when they get the ball.
Eddie Betts had a great season.
Effort is consistent but execution was poor.
Won 10 first quarters and went onto win 8 of those games.
Too often we are too easy to play against.
Players need to adjust on the field when we play a poor quarter.
Too often we wait for the quarter to end before making on-field changes within a quarter.
Danger and Sloane-dog done a terrific job with VB out.
We were 12th for tackling differential
We don’t turn the ball other more than any other team (i.e. Hawthorn) but its where we turn it over.
Inside 50s against we are too high this year.
Starts, Tackling, Record at Home – priority’s we need to work on.
Can’t think clearly late in games – no on field leadership. [ North Melbourne game was an example)
We need more match simulation over summer to finish off games.
Pressure, Fear Panic and Anxiety needs to be eliminated for the ability to win the close ones.
He’s gutted and disappointed at this year’s effort.
Encouraged all crows players to buy a GF ticket and go and watch it.
Has tons of belief in the group – do need to keep teaching and coaching.
Tippett Gate hurt us but it’s no excuse.
7, 8 or 9 changes to list, will occur this year.
Melb offered Bernie a 4 year contract – we couldn’t match it.
We would match a 4 year contract to keep Danger.
Pick 9 should give us a good pick.
Need a bloke with 6 or 7 dot points for Baileys replacement and help on match day.
Campo and Jonah out of contract – New CEO appointment will see either re appointment
Defence 11th in competition doesn’t necessarily make Milburn a bad coach.
We can get fitter 165 avg to 120 interchanges.
Need to work on speed rather than aerobics {which was the case more-so last year}
November 5 = 1st day back at training and ruthless.
Team defence will be the priority over summer.
Not feared.
Hand full of blokes going in for surgery.
JJ has attributes to be a key defender
Malcheski is on radar.

Haven’t spoken to Goldsack [because he’s still playing]
Bomber Thompson is Sandos mentor and is possibly walking away from footy next year.
Worsfold – probably won’t get him.
Goodwin would be great.
Developing Mongrel & Leadership is Sandos weakness [although he said he has plenty].
He doesn’t coach enough!! i.e. He needs someone to attend a 2 hour medical meeting on his behalf and give him a 5 minute piece of feedback.

Rowie has a picture of Tippett's head on a dart board (Not overly sure if he was joking)

This is vastly different to the way Bernie has explained it in the past.
It's also irrelevant isn't it as I thought Bernie was still contracted to us?

Sorry but what does this mean exactly? Not quite following.

Thanks for the summary.

He mucked that bit up. Was meant to say our team defense is not as good as it could be because only 13 - 14 out of 18 are two way running adequately. Sando must believe that we regularly have 4-5 guys that arent fit/willing enough to do the two way chasing required and so our team defense falls down.

That the whole team is not defending together, only some are doing it at a given point in time..
The old broken link in the chain..
Not that there are 14 specific individuals who do it..

I'd say a lower number do it at given points in time but anyway..

Pretty satisfied with that assessment.

Next question is can we deliver on the improvement s needed.

Tackling has been an issue that has been identified every year, and even though they work on it every off season, we still can't tackle.

Meh, statistics are easy to swing Sando. How about we look at our win/loss ratio, how we lost to Melbourne at home, how Laird, Grigg, and Lyons have not improved, how your use of the sub has ruined young players confidence, and how come you refused to play Matt Crouch when he has been our best 2nds player?
Theres a start fella.

This was a terrible interview - he managed to blame ;
Players for being soft;
Players for lack of on field leadership;
Club for Tippett sanctions
Players for immaturity;
Loss of Bails;
Lack of coaching support for him; and
Demands the club places on him.

Pretty much every person involved with the club - except him.

He owned not a single aspect of this season.

Very poor

Alot of our problems sound like all of Sandersons problems as a player, before finding his Mojo at Geelong.

An emphatic yes to your last point/sentence!........let someone upfield take care of it!!!

I heard parts of it, surprisingly, I wasn't impressed.

Our kicking efficiency and use of the ball all year wasn't good enough; so what did we do about it?
Our forward 50 entries weren't good enough; so what did we do about it?

The problems and issues we had, that were directly under his control, what did we actually do to address them?

This bullshit about some players being 'destined for greatness' again - what a cop out. The All Blacks went from the biggest chokers in world sport (well, maybe tied with the Saffers), to being ruthless, ice-cold finishers; and they didn't change the personnel to do it, they changed their approach and their mindset.

If you listened to this (or the parts I heard, at least), and his press conference on Sunday, I cannot possibly see how you could have any confidence or faith in Sando.

Regarding on field leadership - this was evident very early in the year and went unrectified. It is very disappointing to know that despite our captain being out we were unable to solve our onfield leadership/lead by example in 23 rounds of footy.

From Topjars - 'We don't turn the ball over any more than other teams (ie Hawthorn) it's just where we turn it over'

It doesn't seem to matter where it happens, we are just so soft at defending turnovers!

From Topjars..............Mongrel and Leadership is his (Sando's) weakness! Who then is coaching this aspect of our game and player development?

Can you expand on 'need to mature quicker' and what it means with selection/development?
