Harvey gone

Remove this Banner Ad

I remember going out the night of the announcement and celebrating with a long standing freo member and friend... people thought we were hard and mean and all sorts of other rubbish. We mentioned the grand payout harvey would receive and continued celebrating. One of the best decisions we have made in our clubs history.

They don't do it out of good will they do it out of spite. While St. Kilda are still trying to rebuild Fremantle are on top and each draft they try and pick up quality youth for the future. See Blakely and Weller.

And A. Pearce and Taberner and Neale and Sutcliffe etc etc

Ross must be so relieved that he came to a club with a sustainable list management model

Long before my time on BF but had bit of a read and as good a bloke & reasonable coach harvs was it was certainly a brave & outstanding decision made by the steves & though no silver ware has been won yet ( I trying to keep a lid on this year) the club has got the respect of one & all which should be shared from the recruiters to all the staff but Ross surely has been the main piece. :)

Thinking about how the media influences someone's career lately, it's funny that Ross doesn't say much in the way of emotion or attack any particular newsman (As much as we want him to pants Bazil so many times .. nit wit), rather just let the team perform and speak for themselves. Generally always hear "Giving great effort" almost every week. The players say the same along those lines as well.

In the old days the highs were higher than now, but much less frequent. The lows are lower now, but also much less frequent.

Highs were higher? What in all those finals we played (and won)?
Lows are lower? (Cant think of any lows, other than GF loss)

ohh.... are you talking about total points scored? Still, i disagree. 17 of our 20 lowest scores are from the old days (pre RTB). (bolded are Post RTB).

I think he is talking metaphorically for the fans.

When we win now, we expect to so aren't as happy. When we lose now, it is more devastating.

Will never forget that night, listen to it all unfold on SEN, i for one was glad Harvey got the sack.
I went to 3 games in 2011, round 13 V Melbourne 89 point lose, round 22 V norf 98 point lose and round 24 V Dogs 66 point lose.
Injury's aside it was some of the most gutless pathetic football iv even seen, I remember after the lose to north I went to the race to have a crack at them as they left, i didn't after seeing the looks on their faces as they left, they wore completely emotionless, they had no heart at all under Harvey in the end.
Getting Lyon in has been the single best thing the club has ever done.

yep, i remember that. and the look of helplessness

Life used to be much more relaxed in the good old days when we hardly won any games of note. After all, the cricket season would roll around soon enough. Now it's: Should I book flights for the GF now or should I wait until we've beaten Hawthorn? What about accommodation in GF week? Who can we get to feed the cat while we're away and can he survive for two or three days without us? This constant winning seems too much to bear at times.

Shane from dockerland hates the Steves and favourite CEO was David Hatt. I was told by him not to post in his Web page because I posted under Ross the players look really good and happy at training.

Funny stuff some supporters.

Lol wut.

I honestly think some fans were hooked on the emotional rollercoaster that was old Freo. You can't deny that a narrow win over a good side feels amazing after you lose by 10 goals at home to a cellar dweller the week before. Now we're all stable and consistent and win the games we should and put in exceptional effort every week. That s**t is boring. Being the oddball underdog was a massive part of the appeal of Freo for those fans.

Yep. I was overseas in 2003 so missed our first final but was disgraced when I heard we clapped them off after getting belted. Never understood it.

I liked that we got Ross, my post on the day was basically "I'll throw up if it is Eade or Craig", but I reckon the first time I thought we had a genuinely great coach was rd4 2012 vs St Kilda, a team that used to beat us every time. It was a Friday night and we got out to an early lead and then hang on. Hill was sensational in the 2nd half after Jones wore him like a glove in the first half. We played without Fyfe as well, there were a few rocky weeks after with the lowest being the low score against WCE which came with some stinging criticism but we clicked not long after and have been great ever since.

The fact we don't melt now against dud teams has been very god for my health and also my TV remote.

I didn't read the whole thread, but was there another mini-meltdown when it was revealed that Ross Lyon was bringing Zac Dawson with him? :D :D :D

I tend to agree with this but love the way he ripped , are what's your name Shane after we won in Geelong after being set up by the afl in 2013 semifinal.
