Yeah he'd lost that explosive spring by the end that made him such an exciting aerialist early in his career, but he'd well and truly compensated for that by becoming an immovable rock. His body strength and ability to hold his ground was very impressive for a guy who started out as a bit of a chicken legged spring heeled jack.
