Mitchell is our best centreman in my view, although I never saw Bohan.
Best Hawthorn players? Matthews, Dunstall, Hudson, Franklin then a blanket over Platten-Mitchell-Brereton then another blanket over Tuck-Knights-Hodge-Mew.
Mitchell could move higher because he's still playing and is only...
Dunstall slow? You've got to be kidding. It was his speed that made him so dynamic. No stamina, but plenty of speed. And we're talking Matthews at his peak.
Kelvin Moore made Hawthorn's Team of The Century as full-back and, in my view, deserved to. Langford was named on the bench. Perhaps Langford does get in ahead of Gibson, but I'm of the view that Gibson is an outstanding player who has had to play on bigger men for much of his time at Hawthorn...
If you sit down and pick the best Hawthorn team ever - as one does at this time of year when nothing much is happening - how many current day players get a game?
I reckon Gibbo is now worthy of a spot in defence. I saw Kennedy, Collins, Parkin, Langford etc and I reckon he's better than them...
I've heard of Taylor Hunt and Taylor Walker. Who does Taylor Swift play for?
And have you heard the Crows look like making Walker their next captain.
Almost certain that Danger will now be returning to Victoria in 2016. Let's hope he, like Gunston, Lake and Frawley, chooses Hawthorn.
Does anyone think that Buddy could be Hawthorn captain in 2014?
Consider this.
Hodgey is battle-scarred and getting on. Buddy is out of contract. Perhaps offering Buddy the captaincy might make up for the difference in salary between what we can pay him and somebody else.
He seemed to mature...
How do we rate this bloke?
Without Clinton Young, it seems to me that we'll need his kid's outside run, but is he good, really good or just a list-filler? There's not much of him, but he seemed to show a bit in his five games last year.
Where have our training spies gone?
Surely not all our sessions are behind closed doors.
I'd like to know if Bailey's on the track, is Gilham training, how does Birchall look, is Hodge moving freely....?
But nothing.
I'd go myself, but life's too short to watch training.
The "experts" will tell you this kid had no upside and no tricks. Well, I've seen him play a few times and give me a player who's hard at it, has clean skills in traffic and is a better than average kick, and I'll take him every day ahead of "an ahlete with potential".
A bit of good news
Here's some long-term good news... Paul Dear' son, Harry, kicked six goals and was BOG in an interleague game on the weekend playing for the MSJFL under 15 side..
The kid's tall and plays for Beaumaris.
I'd prefer Ellis to Lewis and Ladson. I just think he needs to be shown some faith from the coach and left in the team for a few games to get his confidence.
I'd play him as a kick-behind-play on-baller because I think, when he's playing well, his decision-making is crucial.
I can't see us winning the flag with our current backline. It simply lacks a big body.
Send Roughie down back and push Hodge forward. And perhaps try Schoenmakers up forward for two or three weeks.
Let's start planning to beat Collingwood in September, because we'll have to to win the flag, and...
