My opinion on darcy is that he has fallen into the Walls/Lane opportunism of taking unwarranted pot shots whenever a chance presents. I find Lloyd speaks 'reasonably impartially' on us considering he would have more reason than most tp actually despise us.
All in the 'ears' of the beholder I guess. Hope you're feeling better mate. Time to pluck some magpie wings.
Well, you're right on the money there- no one else is doing it. We're seeing hybrid forwards appear (roughnut), but down back- no. And it could be a weapon- imagine being able to play 3 players who could dominate the ruck BUT not affect your speed and match ups? I guess therein lies the fascination with Trengove- CHB/ruck/chf etc his kind of player let's strats, gibbo, even shoey play in the pockets and on the flanks- and when he's in the ruck, Stratts or someone else plays the Kp role...
The question then is: if Suzan could play that role- why would we trade for trengove at all? Keeping in mind we have Grimely developing in possibly the same role, and a few scholarship boys who might prove a handful down the track.
Or is it important to have more of these hybrids than kpp's? The mind boggles...
Hey mate, no worries at all... Happy to let the course of time reveal all.
I am more than happy to see Suzan have a go, but I am critical of his co-ordination with the pill. Decision making, disposal under pressure, clean handling- these are question marks I have over him if he's to play in that position.
But... should it work, the pay off would be a 199cm kpp that we've never had... So I won't say no, and looking at the eagles tonight- I'd love to have that size and speed down back, but I think unless it is trialled it is stretching the realms of plausibility to suggest him as being cover for us down back when talking turkey over trading players. You know- we can give up 'this guy' because 'that guy' will be able to do that... I don't buy into that logic... So, yes, my criticism is directed at fleshing out the logic in why we would trade a player rather than being 'anti' playing Suzan down back.
It is interesting times, and I hope all that waffle makes sense!
Hey mate, Sam moved me into my new home yesterday. Great guy, did a great job and at mate's rates. Really appreciate it. I've sent a bottle of aged Penfolds up with him for you two to enjoy.
