The Gold Coast SUNS have advised five players that their contracts would not be renewed next season as part of the club’s review process in preparation for the 2015 season.

Senior players Jackson Allen, Jack Hutchins, Jeremy Taylor and Matthew Warnock and rookie Leigh Osbornewere each informed of the club's decision during their individual review meetings.

General Manager – Football Operations, Marcus Ashcroft, said it was important for the Gold Coast SUNS and supporters to recognise the commitment these players have made to the club.

“On behalf of everyone involved with the Gold Coast SUNS, we want to commend the players for the contributions they have made to the club. We wish them every success and all the very best for the future," Ashcroft said.

“The players leave knowing they played valuable roles in our clubs establishment and will always be welcome at the club in the future.”

The delistings follow the departures of Nathan Bock, Campbell Brown, Karmichael Hunt and Tom Murphy from the 2014 playing list.

In line with the Gold Coast SUNS' draft and player concessions, the senior playing list will reduce from 40 to 38 players in 2015, ending the list concessions afforded to the club.

GC SUNS List Size
2011 – 48 senior list
2012 – 46 senior list
2013 – 42 senior list
2014 – 40 senior list
2015 – 38 senior list

Well, Warnock and Osborne being delisted now was a bit of a surprise...

Can anyone do the math and tell me how many spots we have free on the roster now?
40 senior list for 2014

Jackson Allen
Jack Hutchins,
Jeremy Taylor
Matthew Warnock
Nathan Bock
Campbell Brown
Karmichael Hunt
Tom Murphy

= 8 names with Leigh Osborne not included in this calculation as he was on the rookie list

40 - 8 = 32

We are allowed 38 on the list for 2015 and must draft 3 players, which means current list plus draftees = 35.

3 spots open. If Boston is upgraded then we have 2 spots open.

Josh Hall staying on is a pleasant surprise. Must mean he is getting a senior list upgrade
So if Boston and Hall are upgraded then there's 1 free spot on the list aside from draftees

It sounded like we were after multiple players though, is it big trade time?

With the year he has had there is no certainty Bozzo will get upgraded. Still able to spend one more year on the rookie list.My bet is the club exercise that

Surely we have at least one defender virtually in the bag... Right?!

The pressure is on Schade, Leslie and Cameron to stand up if we don't. And I guess there is a chance Schade and Cameron may still pop up as trade bait depending on who we chase.

Still a lil bemused Josh Hall is likely to be upgraded. Played 1 half decent senior game in 3 seasons. We don't need another tall fwd on the list, maybe he is going to become a key defender instead :/

Like others bemused with the likely Josh Halll upgrade , maybe the rules have changed with rookies?
