The playoff begins Monday 15th December at Melbourne Park from 10PM. It's interesting this year because a few of the best prospects for a wildcard aren't playing.

No Rogowska there and no Barty because she is still away from tennis , would favour Sanders , Rodionova or Gavrilova possibly Bains to do well.

Men's

Luke Saville
John-Patrick Smith
Alex Bolt
Matt Reid
Benjamin Mitchell
Jordan Thompson
Dane Propoggia
Maverick Banes
Gavin Van Peperzeel
Andrew Whittington
Blake Mott
Marc Polmans
Akira Santillan
Christopher O'Connell
+18/s winner

Jasika not in the field, personally think it's too early to give him a wildcard, except a qualifying one. Also no Millman , Kokkinakis, Duckworth or Kubler. I think Mitchell , Thompson or Saville here.

Took a look at the rankings to see where those Aussie boys were listed and there are some pretty good players outside of the men's top 100 - Troicki, Montanes, Tursunov, Jurgen Melzer, Mahut, Paire, Del Potro, Florian Mayer. Obviously most of them are injury/old age based but still there will be some stacked qualies around next year.

Melzer, Del Potro and Troicki will all be in the main draw. Also Flo Mayer wont be playing as he is still injured.

Semi finals will be
Men's
Jordan Thompson through to the final because Luke Saville withdrew with a hamstring injury
JP Smith vs Ben Mitchell

Shame about Saville would have been a very worthy wildcard recipient, hopefully he can recover in time for qualifying.

Women's
Daria Gavrilova vs Olivia Rogowska
Arina Rodinova vs winner of Naiktha Bains vs. Maddison Inglis(match 1 set all)

Would really expect the winner of the first semi to win there.

Where's Ebden? Was lucky to see him play up close for my local tennis club recently

Many of these players listed are coming back from injury. Delpo will be back in the top 20 in quick time

Bains is sloooooowly living up to her potential.
Hoping for a breakout year in 2015.
Only 17, but should be a gun.
For the playoff, I hope Dasha Gavrilova wins.
Coming back from a knee reconstruction. Hope she is top 75 by the end of 2015.
Mens Jordan Thompson.

Did you beat him?

Saville pulling out has made it a little interesting for TA, Smith or Thompson has one of the wc's now. That leaves 4 left. Millman, Duckworth, Kokkansis should be certainties, that leaves one last one, with TA going nuts over Jaiska, will they with apparent future talent or Saville who has had the results that deserve a wc.

Happy with the results. Thought Jordan would have won a lot easier though. Don't rate Smith at all.

Smith just gets it back though, Thompson too inconsistent (both mental and technically) to run away with it. Agree though, Smith is bad.
