On Grand Final day, Fremantle senior coach Ross Lyon was watching the game and a text arrived on his phone.

It was from Brownlow Medallist Nat Fyfe.

The star midfielder and a number of team mates were together watching the biggest game of the year, a week after the club’s season ended with a Preliminary Final loss to premiers Hawthorn.

Lyon shared the inspirational text with the club faithful at the 2015 Doig Medal Count at Crown Perth on Saturday night.

“As a coach you are looking for inspiration green shoots and I’ll share this with you,” he said.

“I was sitting there watching the Grand Final.

“I was a bit flat but a text came through from Nathan.

“The text came through and it was inspirational.”

Lyon said Fyfe and other players were watching the game and compiled five areas the club could improve, after watching premiers Hawthorn in action.

Fyfe had sent the photo to Lyon, letting him know the side is focussed on getting better in 2016.

“There was a whiteboard sitting on the bucket,” he said.

"They had sat there, they weren’t wallowing in their misery, they were anaylysing Hawthorn’s game style.

"They had identified five aspects they thought were pertinent to us.

“It blew me away."

Lyon said he replied and told the players it was inspiring that they were looking to improve.

He said while the season had ended short of its main goal, the side would return next year and begin its journey again.

“I spoke to the players this morning, we are all disappointed we didn’t achieve what we wanted to,” he said.

“Ultimately, we fell short in execution.

“Our aim is to write our story.

“We will start again in the pre-season.”

I seriously thought his wife looked different!

Didn't you see that footage of him walking around Subi after the prelim loss in tears while she consoled him?

She looked like she had semi-dreadies then actually. Looked like one of those cool chicks who would walk around everywhere shoeless if she could.

That's what I thought and it could just be a bad photo - I really liked the other ones I have seen of her

Yes. They are both a little alternative. Nice to see in this day and age where everything is about the outward appearance.

Interesting how the posters who continuously slag Ross for his selections and gameplan are so happy to ignore the enormous respect and commitment the likes of Cleaver,Elvis,Pav,Mundy etc etc have for the coach.
Difficult to decide who's the thickest?
Not really.
Who is Cleaver?

Disappointing Crowls and the Club have ended in a bad place. He was tremendous for us until last year, and a previous club champion. I wonder why he wasn't given the option of an honorable retirement - could he want to be going around again? Can't imagine where else he would play. It will be strange.

I feel so much for Ross. He cops so much flack for having no flags under him, it boggles the mind how short-sighted people are not to realise how difficult it is to even get to a grand final, let alone win one. I am so impressed at the commitment of the boys, and Fyfe as a leader of the club.

Who cares what she looks like.......do they have any sons??

Well at least they were doing something productive while they were getting stoned.

Lyon may have been crying because he realised Fyfey is going to take his job one day.

Sadly two daughters I believe. I'm sure they are wonderful etc, but macca, child number 3 please!

I have no doubt that Crowley was given the option to retire. But he'd obviously wants to play on. It happens, unfortunately.
