Looking forward to seeing Matty Bowen's swan-song.

After a shaky start, he's much missed at Wigan.

Storm aren't taking a very strong squad but intersted to see how a few of the young guys are coming along.

What struck me, watching the Final, was that the Eels coach deserves a lot of credit. They played real smart.

Do they have anything in the UK like this?

No, they don't.

Some fans are saying now (and have been for a couple of years) that a Nines tourney might make more sense than the current annual Magic Weekend, where a full set of fixtures are played over two days in one stadium, previously Manchester City's ground, but nowadays Newcastle. Of course it would take time to find a sponsor, etc.

The Magic set-up is arguably a bit unfair anyway, because the top sides are drawn against each other. So this means Wigan, say, have to play Leeds three times a year, whereas Castleford (say) only have to play them twice, and their 'extra' game will be against a lesser side.

Then again the NRL draw isn't 'fair', either. so I guess youse guys are used to that.

I'm sure Wigan, Saints, Leeds, etc would welcome an invite to the Auckland Nines, though...

The Magic weekend sounds like a really interesting idea. How does the pitch hold up after so many games?

I guess they must start it pretty early in the day as well?

It's later in the year and the weather is generally good. They start around 11.30 am if I remember right. I don't remember the pitch being an issue. It's a good weekend, but when I've been I don't try to see every game.
