Foxtel 1 Optus 0
Hmmm if the demographic of this board is anything to go by a very good proportion come from those 6 clubs combined.

Some will be hell bent on viewing live, some like me would rather sleep at 3-4am (for relevant games). So given a good proportion of us will be able to watch and record our side play, on delay, on Foxtel you'd think this severely weakens the marketing position of Optus in trying to lure customers to Fetch TV in order to recoup their investment and eat into Foxtel's market share.

Live streaming (at varying picture qualities throughout Aus) in exchange for $$, when you can illegal stream for free...

Or

Wait 12 hours and get it in secured HD with no buffering, whilst able to watch your AFL side play as well.... And a whole raft of TV shows and movies.

Combine that with Fox securing of Bein Sports and all the European football that accompanies that and I'd say it's at least

Foxtel 2 Optus 0

Any way to have them block Chelsea TV and Man U TV from my service? :p:straining:
You could just go into settings and block the channel with a passcode if it is that disturbing.

Optus DGAF...

Optus has brushed aside protests from English Premier League football fans unhappy at its plans for broadcasting the competition from next season, saying its proposed packages offer cost effective options to watch matches.

Really bad news for WorldCup2022OZ

ACCC guidelines however suggest Optus is acting within the rules, having purchased exclusive rights for three years for $63 million a year.

The competition regulator is only likely to get involved if Optus seeks to misrepresent its price or service in advertising.

"As we understand this we do not see any breaches of competition laws or any other rules we administer," ACCC chairman Rod Sims told The Financial Review.
Hmmm my mobile contract does end in September though.

FFS I hate having choices like this :(

Foxtel 10 Optus 0

Fixed :D
Optus are well and truly DOOMED!!

Have to say Well played Foxtel on this one didn't' think I'll be saying that when I learnt they lost the rights! But with Beinsports coming and now the three EPL club channels I'm more the satisfied! especially now that I'll be getting Live Serie A in HD and English commentary!

This does nothing for me.
I cant do delayed telecast unless it's a late epic comeback (ie. Crystal Palace 3, Liverpool 3 a few years back or Manchester City 3, QPR 2 even before that)
Will just watch more Bein sports and other leagues.

And Im not forking out money for the Optus stuff (although, I already am an Optus mobile phone customer)
If I'm really desperate for an EPL fix. I'd just go to a local pub/casino, but it'll mostly be Bundesliga I watch (assuming it's part of Bein which ill look into come the offseason)

City V QPR ended 3-3 not 3-2 just to correct you.

Interesting to see what our channel is like. We dont currently have one in the UK. If it's a few hours of the stuff on youtube that'll be pretty good we've got a pretty funny bunch

Gee this EPL Deal has turned out to be a bloody mess. How about Foxtel and Optus get together and sort this s**t out.Foxtel knows now that EPL is big and means a lot to us.I will have to Live Stream Everton Games and I'm happy with La Liga Barcelona and Ligue 1 Paris St Germain.
Watch La Liga get a massive boost and we will have to wait 3 years and I'm sure Foxtel will pay a lot more for the rights and this time keep the bloody things.

******* lol at this. It's hilarious that they're serious too.

A spokesperson for Optus has confirmed to DeciderTV that Optus Home Broadband customers should be able to view the games on TV in HD using a Fetch set-top box, however Optus is unable to guarantee HD quality due to Internet bandwidth limitations in some areas.

The spokesperson indicated Optus customers unhappy with the picture quality delivered over Optus Internet may be able to upgrade to a HD satellite option for an additional $20 per month.

******* lol. Just ******* lol.

What!!!!!! But wc2022 said...? Maybe he should have googled ACCC regulations and saved us half this thread.

I don't know what's more incredible - Optus paying that much for what is essentially a niche sport in this country seeing as matches are mostly on between midnight and 5am, or that they think this strategy is the best way to recoup the costs.

Optus boardroom this morning...
