Looks like the comp has evened out which is great to see compared to a comp like WRFL D2.
Romsey won by less than a kick against Centrals and beat Wallan the week before.
Wallan then roll the reigning premiers the week later.
Seems like the margins in most games are pretty tight which is great...
If this is the truth that is a disgrace.
Club’s rightfully will plan in the off season their recruiting based on their goals for the season.
No one would’ve planned for having 3 sides relegated so all of a sudden clubs that may have sustainably recruited or decided to play the youth could be...
Would East Sunbury be interested in moving to the league?
Seems like whoever moves back into the RDFL first between East Sunbury, Rupertswood and Sunbury Kangaroos will get a leg up on the others.
Castlemaine would be a good shout as it looks like Kyneton will be a big success for the league...
My understanding is Lancefield have been applying for change room upgrades with the local council which makes sense.
Romsey and Woodend have already been the beneficiary of this and Macedon are next in line.
The key with getting changeroom upgrades is to field female sides either in the...
As a neutral just throwing it out there.
Besides an obvious troll on this thread it looks like there’s some angst towards Lalor.
For a first up performance they should be tremendously please with a highly competitive performance. To lose by an average of 2 goals per quarter against a highly...
Almost a 50% rate of a flag over an 18 year spell is one hell of an era.
If I’m not mistaken they’ve won a few twos flags in this time as well.
Definition of a powerhouse club.
D1 NFL is always one of the more competitive premier competitions in Victoria. Always good for a few upsets a year...
If averaging almost 5 goals a game while ‘unfit’ then I’d hate to imagine what sort out damage he would do in EDFL D2.
Should comfortably kick 50+ if plays 12 games or more.
Poor buggers, really feel for these communities along the river copping it a second time in 15 months
Fingers crossed the impact is as minimal as possible
Personally I think twilight games are perfect instead of night games at the start of the year.
It allows the other games to be played during the day, have a twilight game and then the home club can roll straight into a function after the game to tap into the influx of fans and even opposing...
RDFNL have a blend of clubs from Metro and Regional Victoria which became problematic in 2021 when there was covid restrictions with the whole Metro/Regional divide.
Comps like Outer East had the same issue.
By municipalities
Metro - Melton Centrals, Diggers and Rockbank
Regional - Kyneton...
Seeing the results from afar they won 4 games for the year.
However I just looked deeper into their results and to have a % of 80 shows they were highly competitive.
Most losses ranged between 20-40 point margins so it won’t take much for them to upset a few sides if they have retained their...
I understand the reasoning why clearances don’t open on Nov/Dec to ease load on volunteers but it does become problematic for clubs when they sign and announce players and then the players reneg on deals when a better offer comes up in the off season prior to clearances opening.
Does Rupo still have very strong junior sides with their ties with the school?
From memory they had extremely successful U16 & U19 sides in the past with plenty of flags.
If they do they can eventually and slowly rebound as a senior club if they can get ahold of the talented kids.
While it’s a worthy debate I personally don’t think a D4 is worth pursuing post covid.
Just as an example the SFNL grew to 4 divisions pre covid which did help struggling clubs.
However the last few years have been an outright mess and I could see similar situations happening with a 7 team comp...
While it's always easy to bash the league, you have to sit back and admit the league has done a brilliant job at slowly aquiring clubs in the past decade which has been mutually succesful for both clubs and league.
Each club had it's own predicament but from afar this is how it's paned out in...
I might be incorrect here but Reservoir fielded seniors and reserves in every game of 2023.
Yeah they lost to everyone bar Lalor but there shouldn’t be calls for them to wind up if they are fielding two sides week to week and are financial with the league.
Unless they have a mass exodus which...
I see that Eynesbury are advertising for a U19s coach so that’s a promising sign the club is slowly building.
Had a quick look online and they have a strong third 18 and won the flag.
Maybe they aren’t far off having seniors, reserves and U19s which would be great for the comp.
Also I’m pretty...
I’m starting to think the top 4 is set.
1. Frankston
2. EH
3. CPL
4. Ashwood
Realistically 2-4 can easily shift. All these sides have strong depth and can cover the inevitable injuries that pile up mid season.
Lyndhurst 5th and Narre South and Heatherton to battle for 6th
What's everyones thoughts so far?
Have Narre South dropped off that much?
Are the Dolphins a chance of giving the division a red hot shake?
Are EH a contender with two solid wins against Ashwood and CPL?
The last thing D4 needs is another side folding, would really compromise the whole division and put it in a volatile state.
As long as South Yarra can hang in there and put two sides on the park they are doing ok.
It was a toss of the coin GF day last year with both SM & Laurimar having strong depths in both grades.
I still stand by my comment that they would be competative in D2.
For the wrong reasons there will be a few sides added to this list from the off season and some who might not even make the R1 starting line up for 2023
10 years or so ago a great little comp could’ve been made and I wonder if the fortunes of the clubs would’ve shifted if they had a suitable league to play in that put less pressure on the clubs.
Longwood, Swanpool, Tatong, Goorambat, Bonnie Doon, Thornton, Alexandra, Yea, Broadford and even...
