Only 2 clubs had a serious crack at him last year, plus the Tigers put their toe in the water and have been told to move aside this year. Last year we would have taken pick 2 & 12 for him.
The strong get stronger - luv it. Well done Hawks awesome continuation of your dominance both on and off field. 100% respect your way - you really do know how to look after your players in a positive way. You are a shining light of how it should be done. respect.
Mate Cooney is shot playing on half a leg, HO is playing on half a brain, Garlett pees most of his brain up against a wall - then forgets to get the story right. Frost who knows, seems like a nice kid.
Petracca you wont get. Brayshaw good kid but has kicking issues. McCartin - the name Luke...
With all due respect mid fields win premierships, win the contested ball and that is what wins AFL games. How did your gun KPF Buddy, Tippett Reid go ? Oh thats right Hawthorn won the ball out the middle. Hawks even gave up the best KPF in the league and still won the flag.
Taking KPF in a...
No problems you wont get Frost for 61. Pick 61 is useless to GWS. If I was GWS this is a player I would take a stand on - let him walk via PSD you have to burn pick 2. Leaves the door ajar for GWS to get a player via that method.
Sorry NO it does not sound feasible. Will never happen. Its just silly - tell me any other jobs that force employees to work for a business/company that they dont want to?
Ok then - I just think you open your options up. Lets say trade one goes ahead so you now have picks 3,6,23,27,45 .... GWS again may listen to
GWS - 6, 23, 45 - exactly what GWS want. GWS on trade 5,6 & 23 for 1 & 22
Melbourne - 21 Shiel and Frost
Then your net result for pick 2 is - Shiel ...
Net result is
McCartin & 61 vs Leverde, Frost & 21 - it really is a risk vs return. Putting all your eggs in the KPF from a draft is high risk - pick 61 high risk. Demons would be totally going against Paul Roos own theories not to do the deal.
Obviously you have not learnt from your past. Adding two B grade mids is going to be way better than waiting 5 years for a McCartin to fully develop - chances are Hogan will be gone by then. Rightly or wrongly you need improvement quickly.
IMHO you have hit the strategy on the head. IMHO - Roos is doing the right thing if he trades. Lumumba, Frost & Garlett are role players - 3 and 6 are Brashaw and Leverde - elite mids.
NOW - you target 2 Bernie Vince type players with 21 and 23 ... you could be adding up to 5-7 walk up starts...
NO ... You think of it as one trade. You get Frost exactly the player you are looking for ... plus now you have picks 21 and 23 to target ready mades ... still walking away with 2 "elite" mids from this draft. But feel free take McCartin and wait 5 years, not Paul Roos style.
KPF are very, very hit and miss in a draft - I thought of all clubs you would understand that by now - but maybe not.
I think you need to look at it as two trades. So
Bulldogs - 6, 27 and 45
Demons - 2 & 61
Then the Demons hit up GWS
GWS - Frost & 21
Demons - 27 and 45
You now have 21 &...
Bulldogs have the right draft picks to get it done - more "kids" is the last thing you need. A combination of 6, 26 or 27 and a player you would be stupid in real life to walk away from. Assuming the "player" gets a gig in your side.
Somebody like Clay Smith has a ton of upside ( assuming he...
Not necessarily. Roos is a big fan of trading for Talls and drafting for Mids. Might actually be quite smart if Demons go back a few knowing most likely they will still get the mid they want. Now assuming Dogs are prepared to offer a "role" player its win-win for all.
100% agree with you appears he has split the club on many fronts ... supporters, players, and the board have the opposite view to him.
AD will be having a quiet chuckle to himself - Wonder how he will explain that one to his kids?
Rumours are strong if Hird stays up to 10 players will walk and take "the deal". Players at other clubs have been instructed to take the deal.
Rule 1 in AFL football - NEVER take on the AFL - one way or another you will always come out the loser.
Yip we want an answer on what Paddy wants to do. Demons have the picks. Geelong have the desire. New coach for a reason - if he cant get a straight up answer from day 1 we have a decision to make THIS year.
As Ive said from day 1 I want Paddy to stay.
Im not saying Paddy will be at Cats - that was only conjecture "Why would they want pick 2?" What sparked my ear was "maybe chasing Paddy again.
Cats will easily have salary cap room if they structure deals properly. Clark is cheap around 250-300K, Frawley is a tad more expensive, Dangerfield...
Yes there is a source. However, many are not quite reading the thread properly. Source confident Geelong have an in principle agreement with Frawley, Cats wont table their "best" offer until trade week. Geelong are trying to upgrade their first round draft pick. Why you may ask ... "conjecture...
