Why does anyone give a sh!t about our apparel sponsor, it's the same jumper with a different tiny logo

It's the same as when I was a kid and used to argue with my mates whether it would be better to be sponsored by Quiksilver or Billabong... All very important when you are kid, but makes no difference once you get to about 23 years of age.

Mind you, it was a bit cringe-worthy back in the day when we used to be sponsored by Diadora. As a kid, if you had a pair of Diadoras you got derided for wearing soccer boots!

As for sponsors, remember guys, it is a serious investment in coin, and we are still in an era of economic turmoil. Not a great time to be trying to get a sponsor, and probably why we lost our current ones.

I actually heard off a mate that works at Holden that his manager is a massive Richmond supporter and was trying to get a partnership going with Holden & Richmond.

Doesn't make sense since they are a lion, lol, but would be cool.

Fitzroy tried for years to get Holden on board. I'm sure Brisbane would have tried too, after all, they were effectively a state team. At the end of the day I feel that Holden as a brand just don't go for club sponsorship as part of their marketing strategy.

We should hassle Leon Daphne to up the Nissan sponsorship if we are going for any of the car companies. If ExxonMobil hadn't gone and rebadged all the Esso service stations to mobil, they would have been a good option as the Tiger is in Esso marketing all over the world. I think they are still a minor sponsor.

Off the top of my head (although I have often thought about this before);

1. Punt Hill Serviced Apartments
2. BHP - partner with the Indigenous Centre, assist locals near some of their operations in remote WA. Yes, that is ambitious...
3. Esso? Probably not, as Mobil (owner: ExxonMobil) has just sold 300 outlets to 7-Eleven. Still, I loved this ad: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KwvQJdN7fNw
4. Tiger Airlines – amazes me if Ford can jag the Cats (vs Toyota), Emirates has the Pies (vs Qantas) and Westpac has Collingwood (vs AFL’s affiliations with NAB) and we cannot chase Tiger
5. Metro – view of Punt Road Oval is synonymous with train travel in Melbourne. Concepts of journey, destination
6. Boeing - on the rise, new 787 Dreamliner due in the next 18 months – innovative, reliable, effective and exciting (though I am an aircraft nut)
7. Whoever buys Victoria Gardens from Centro (will take some time, though)
8. Canon - we are seeking to replicate the game plan, perfectly. Again and again and again. Capture It, with Canon would be a nice slogan you could offer them
9. Someone with whom Dick Smith can partner - Panasonic, JVC, Sharp
10. Dell
11. Telecommunications – need to offer them access/ leverage from other sponsors as well as the fan base, as this tactic has fallen over before.
12. Yellow Pages – colour based, but with talk of Sensis being separated from Telstra, they may wish to expand profile ahead of the listing
13. A honeymaker/ Capilano - bees, yellow and black etc
14. Stockland – major developer in and around Craigieburn
15. Stanley tools – yellow and black again, working class, reliable, performance driven, DeWalt is another – similar colours, at the premium end of the market, but absolutely sensational tools.
