DEAN COX
I never thought i would say this, but i love big cox.
Dirty minds, the bunch of you. :p

Seriously though, this man is something special.
Words do not describe his talent and ability.

At 204 centimetres, he still plays as a midfielder.
He is averaging 22.1 possessions this year which is more than some ball magnets in B.Stanton, N.Dal Santo, L.Ball, L.Hodge and C.Bruce, just to name a few.

There is no ruckman in the league which can run with him all day which makes him a certainty to rack up some cheap marks and some easy possessions.

By fifty country miles, he is the best ruckman in the game both in reality and in a Dream Team perspective.

D.Cox averages:

2005: 95.7
2006: 97.9
2007: 102.5
THIS YEAR: 105.9

An upward trend, yet people are still saying he is injured.

Averages always scale down though as the season progresses as it is just too hard to maintain such a high average as the bodies fatigue and as the pace of the game drops off in the second half of the season.

Is he injured?
I think not, but it is still in the back of my head, every time i watch him, just like it is with P.Chapman, B.Johnson, J.Brown, D.Swan and plenty of other elite Dream Team players.

The "only" good ruckman on the market.
A certain 80 points each week.
A likely 100 point average season.
Another captain choice.
A MUST HAVE.

My second picked player this year and just like C.Cornes who was my first picked player, it was money well spent.

Re: Player Summary 11: D.Cox

Nothing more to say. You've hit the nail on the head. Has to be picked at the start of every season because he rarely drops in price and is well worth every cent he is at the beginning of the year.

Unbelieveable that his average has increased this year

Re: Player Summary 11: D.Cox

I don't know what to add. Except perhaps this.

Every week before lockout there's always someone on the board who suggests Cox as captain, using the reasoning:
"Cox up against <Team X's> ruck department which is shizen, he'll smash them"

But these people don't realise that Cox doesn't get his massive DT scores from getting 40 hitouts (like Sandilands or Jolly might do), the majority of his points come from possessions around the ground (has got 20+ possessions 6/8 times this season).

So really his scores have quite little to do with the quality of the opposing ruckman. He roams around the ground, getting points in defence playing the loose man (marks/kicks), linkup man in the centre (marks/kicks), resting in the forward line and getting a goal or two, or following the ball and getting handballs and tackles.

Although you could argue that if he is up against a good quality ruckman then he will play more accountable, and there may be some truth to this. But most of the time it'll be the other ruckman who follows him around (or at least tries to).

Yes but it also helps when he gets 30 hitouts and 25 possesions. This week, he is up against an Adelaide ruck unit which is very weak and Cox should dominate the hitouts.

Cox, at the moment is pretty much West Coast's premium midfielder, with Kerr out of the side and Priddis coming back from injury. He racks up the stats week in week out, regardless of "injury". Im not sure how his "broken" foot is affecting him at the moment, he is back to kicking on it and still is the fittest ruckman in the game by a mile.
