Simpkin, has great endurance, but he would get opened up by most wingers.
Simpkin’s talents are wasted on a wing.
His side step is his biggest weapon imo
If he can learn some forward craft & get his dancing feet going he might go ok up forward with stints in the middle.
Wingers need to run & carry, keep space & not get sucked into the contest, which is not Jye.
The Dylan Stephens pick up is gonna be huge for us.

As above, up forward Jy can still dance in traffic and he can play high as an extra mid if that’s how we set up.

Once the real stuff starts though, he will still get plenty of midfield time. LDU and Warlord aren’t exactly 90 min players.

Maybe but that depth of midfielders could provide an opportunity for someone else to roll out there. Simpkin for one in the long term.
There is as much similarity in role between wing and mid as there is between HF and HB. They are completely different roles requiring different skill sets.

The reason we have been flogged for the last 5 years comes down to the fact we only rely on Scott to do the required offensive ang defensive running, while playing the likes of Powell and Simpkin there.

On Wednesday our midfield struggled against DeGoey and the Daicos' till Jy pushed up late in the first quarter.

I thought after the intra club that Stephens looked ordinary but in the praccy he was a different player and you're right about everything and Simpkin. He's a physical player and wouldn't be able to stop himself getting into the scrap when it happens. Actually I'm not going to elaborate on that because you've said everything that needs to be said.

Most of our players do, always feel we take awhile to adjust to other grounds, I feel Mckercher will really love the Marvel Deck.
Agree with that - Clarko has set up the game plan & recruited players that suit the fast deck. We should have a genuine home ground advantage in the coming years, something we haven't had since 2015 odd.

Definitely noticed him more today. Him and Zac Fisher look to be great pick ups!!!!

To be honest, I don't think we've genuinely had a game-plan that was suited to Marvel since 2011-2013 when we had serious run and gun hanballing with Wells, Harvey, Mullet, Atley, Gibson, Harper et al.

We slowed things down 2014-2016 and were more deliberate. And even though we were just outside of finals in those days, I loved the football.
