2012 Predictions

I'd like to see all the team's best 18 in position along with their reserves to get a better feel for how each team looks but at a glance I'd say West Coast, Geelong and Melbourne will be good again.
Launceston have snared a lot of good players along with highly rated draftees. I think they'll be finalists and if their draftees go well could challenge for a top 4 spot.

I've changed to a longer term approach with Gold Coast so I expect to drop outside the top 3 or 4 for the first time.
I'm hoping to make the finals but will need my younger players to come on quickly to really challenge this year. Losing LeCras for the season and another facial injury to Brown don't help though.

I'm probably seeing myself slide this season. Came 6th last season from memory but might finish outside top 8 this season. I've put my best 18 up on my team page.

We may not know best teams until Round 1 though, but we'll get a better gauge of who's good after Round 5-6ish IMO.

I'll be doing my press release in the coming weeks, nothing else to do pre-season for me !

For me, the re-building has begun, hopefully a better year then last year a lot depends on the fitness of Thompson, Lewis, Kelly, Fisher and Sandilands for me !

Main contenders this year I expect to come from West Coast, Geelong, Port Adelaide and Launceston.

As this is my first year I have been somewhat forced to focus on the future, especially after I found out I had lost Goldstein prior to even starting.

I really have no idea how I will go, all a learning curve for me this year really.

Yeah, Port are probably the other team I'd have challenging for the top 4 too

Personally I expect to finish around the same area as I did last year. A lot of youth and lacking maybe a key forward or two.

League wide I am expecting Geelong to have a very good year. With Melbourne and West Coast the 2 challengers.

Launceston could be a very interesting team this year. A lot of good senior players and some highly talented youngsters could see them easily make their way into the finals.

Coach's Thoughts
I think we've definitely got a better list together than last season. If you look purely at the ins and outs you can see quality coming in more so than going out. Obviously we're still not 100% sure on some of our draft picks but we believe that we have picked the right men for the job and that, for a few of them at least, we will see them fairly early in the season. Obviously injuries are always a worry, as they are for every team, but we feel we've got enough depth to cover all positions as well. We're coming into the season a little underdone with guys like Waite and Barlow coming off limited pre-seasons and guys like Bailey and Gwilt still undergoing recoveries from their various injuries. We still feel that despite this we have the quality to finish at the top end of the table and, should we get close to our best side on the park at the end, a real chance at taking out our second premiership.

In a rebuilding phase with many young players supported by a gun midfield so I expect to miss finals. I reckon Launceston will surprise a few and like the look of Geelong.

Team Thoughts
Development year for the Dragons. A new coach has arrived and has opted to go with youth, using plenty of draft picks in the National and Rookie drafts. For the period that the team didn't have a coach, the club lost many key players to other teams leaving the team desperate for good talent. This has had one positive side affect however with the club's salary cap looking more than healthy meaning they can target players hard in the off-season.

Press Statement
Despite having 3 top 4 finishes in 3 seasons we haven't been able to produce good enough football to knock off teams who's quality and depth is strengthened by having veterans and stalwarts. We need them too, so have re-focussed this season on setting up a squad that will provide the club with quality long-term prospects who may fill these roles in the future while moving on players who will not.
We expect that we will drop out of the top 4 this season however we are confident that this squad can still take us to the finals even though it is a developing list.

PRESS STATEMENT

2012 looms as an interesting one for the Vultures and one that needs to be delivered on with plenty of players on their last year of their contract.

Finals is on the agenda, we feel we managed to get some reasonable depth in the list, which has been a problem over the past 2/3 years. Rance was an important acquisition with Kel Moore battling injuries for a 2nd year in a row and one that looks like ending his career short. We've found the key forward we have been craving for years in Tippett and hope he can be the man to propel us into finals.

We expect Geelong, Launceston, West Coast and Port to round out the top 4, with the rest of the league seeming very even.

Pie 4 Life says: "We have a very raw young talented list, but as we saw from the Pre-Season Cup, we can notch up some decent scores. With Dale Thomas as captain, we have finally found ourselves a captain each week rather than a rotational policy. We have plenty of KPP and out depth is better than last season. Ideally we could have had another small forward or defender just to try and balance it out. Ideally we are targeting finals. We're sick of just missing out and it's time to take the next step."

PRESS STATEMENT
To say it as a big off-season for the Hornets would be an under statement with almost a quarter of the list being turned over. For the Hornets, the re-building has begun, hopefully a better year then last year a lot depends on the fitness of Thompson, Lewis, Kelly, Fisher and Sandilands. Finals is a goal but really it is all about development in the Hornet's Hive.
Main contenders this year I expect to come from West Coast, Geelong, Port Adelaide, Melbourne and Launceston.

PRESS STATEMENT
Continstar's first offseason has been eventful, with a number of new faces at the club. The aim for the season is finals, as it always should be, but anything above 10th will be considered a success. The list has some stars in Cotchin, Mundy, Petrie, Roughead and Rioli and a number of solid contributors, so hopefully a solid season is ahead of us

Gee Dub's PM box is full so I can't send through any trade offers to him right now.

The Warthogs are a very young team and have plenty of potential. We are hoping that all of our guys put in the hard yards to improve and that will help us on the field. We are led by a great core midfield with the likes of Swan, Murphy, Moloney, Ball and Boak and have plenty of depth with many capable midfielders lining up on the flanks. We see our main weakness in the key position posts where an injury will severely test our depth. Realistically we are looking at missing the finals or creeping into the eight but not contending this year.

PRESSER:
Bandits President, GM and CEO, flaps has turned over the list immensly booting out 15 players and bringing in 14 new faces. Thefuture for the Bandits looks bright with youngsters Brad McKenzie and Nick Haynes joining the club as well as a safety net in Ivan Maric for the ruck, should anything happen to Sam Jacobs next off-season. The Bandits are still looking long term, but have not ruled themselves out of achieving finals this season.

After a strong NAB Cup, the Bandits failed to make the Grand Final due to an administrative error at the club, by not fielding a team in time. Due to the ban on Essendon players listed, the club could have made the final should they have named a team in time. Nevertheless, it was great match experience for the boys.

Flaps intends to go through the archives at some point early this season to see how many games players have played for the club so far in their short career-span so far.

Flaps is fielding all offers for players on the Albury Bandits list. Of course any player is available at the right price, but trades need to be realistic.

Russian says
It hasn't been a great pre-season and we'll take some underdone players into round 1, but I still expect a top 6 finish. We're interested in talking to key defenders, outside midfielders and rookies interested in taking Andrew Krakouer's spot, and we wouldn't mind a bit of additional depth if we can get a draft pick or two.

GeeCat says: With the current list available and on the back of the the club's NAB Cup success, a top four finish will be the minimum expectation for this season. With a raft of new coaches joining the league, it figures to be an interesting season ahead. Looking forward to fighting it out with many others as the Geelong Football Club searches for its first premiership. All the best to everyone!

List analysis: The upcoming season could well prove to be a struggle for the Mozzie bites. We have limited depth in most positions and a couple of early injuries and other troubles with our players will test us out early.
Moving into the future though i believe our list is starting to take a really positive look. Adding the likes of Parker, McKenzie, Patton, Heppell and the like over the last 2 seasons will really give us a cornerstone moving forward to not only build a great list but also give us some great tools at the trade table to continue our improvement over the next 2-3 years.
