2013 AFL TM Rising Star Award
This award is given to the player who is deemed to be one of the best up and coming stars in the competition. To be eligible for this award the player must be 21 years or younger as of the start of the year as well as played less than 10 AFL games at the beginning of the season.

The Rising Star is awarded to the player who fits this category and has the most total points for the season. In the event of two players having the same total points, the higher position will be awarded to the player who has the highest average. If players are still tied then the player who belongs to the team who finished higher on the ladder will be awarded the higher position. Further tie breakers are decided on total goals, disposals, hitouts, marks and then tackles in that order.

5th Place: Sam Mayes (WC) – 1312 points in 18 games (Avg 72.9)
The West Coast youngster oozes class and looks to have a very bright future playing up forward and through the midfield.

4th Place: Lachie Whitfield (Moz) – 1351 points in 19 games (Avg 71.1)
The number two draft pick had a fantastic year for the Mozzie Bites and will only get better as he goes.

3rd Place: Oliver Wines (Wag) – 1633 points in 22 games (Avg 74.2)
The hard at it in and under midfielder faded a little late in the year but still had an absolute stellar debut year for the Wagga Wagga Warthogs.
WINES-Oliver.png

2nd Place: Aaron Mullett (WC) – 1634 points in 22 games (Avg 74.3)
Can you believe that this guy is actually a West Coast rookie. Is certain to get a promotion after a fantastic breakout year for the midfielder.
MULLETT%20Aaron.png

1st Place: Jaeger O’Meara (Wag) – 1962 points in 22 games (Avg 89.2)
The number one draft pick lived up to the hype by postion an average close to 90 over a complete 22 games for the season. Brilliant effort by the young midfielder.
OMEARA%20Jaeger.png

Congratulations to all of the young players that have placed in the Rising Star award and in particular Jaeger O’Meara who takes away the title. With both Wines and O’Meara placing in the Rising Star award, Wagga Wagga Warthogs may very well be a team to look out for in the future.

2013 AFL TM All Australian Team
Welcome to the AFL TM All Australian selection for 2013. All Australian selection is awarded to players who are deemed to be the best in their position for the season. The team consists of 6 defenders, 6 midfielders, 1 ruck and 6 forwards, with 2 key forwards and 2 key defenders to be selected as part of this starting team. One additional player each from the backline, midfield, ruck and forward line will also be selected on the interchange, meaning a total of 22 players will be selected in the All Australian team.

To qualify for selection, players must have played at least 15 AFL games during the season and must be on an AFL TM list. Selection is awarded to players who have averaged the most points over the course of the season. Players are only eligible to be selected in positions on the field (ie Back, Midfield, Ruck, Forward) that they are able to be selected in the virtual sports Dream Team competition.

In the case of a tie in terms of average points, the position will be awarded to the player who has played more games during the season. If players are still tied then the position will be awarded to the player who belongs to the AFL TM team that finished higher on the ladder. After this, ties will be broken by the player with the most goals, then disposal, hitouts, marks and then tackles.
A captain and vice-captain will also be selected, with the titles to be awarded to the players who were deemed to be the most consistent high scorers across the season (i.e. combination of high average and games played).

GIBBS%20Bryce.png

Perhaps a surprise to some, but Michael Johnson was in fact the highest scoring key defender in the league.

Half Forwards

Half Forward Flank: Steve Johnson (Port) – 1894 points in 16 games (Avg 118.4)

JOHNSON%20Steve.png

Centre Half Forward: Nick Riewoldt (Melb) – 2166 points in 21 games (Avg 103.1)
The big Melbourne key forward had a season so good that his average was actually the second highest of any forward in the competition. Phenomenal season.

Forward Pocket: Dustin Martin (Port) – 2135 points in 22 games (Avg 97.0)
Another Port Adelaide forward/midfielder who finally learned how to play out four quarters. The result of this was a very satisfactory average of 97 points per game.

Interchange

Interchange (Backman): Harry O’Brien (WC) – 1579 points in 18 games (Avg 87.7)
Perhaps a surprise selection, but the West Coast defender beat out several more fancied defenders to take the defender’s interchange position with a little more game time played on the wings.
OBRIEN%20Harry.png

Interchange (Midfielder): Kane Cornes (Adel) – 2240 points in 21 games (Avg 106.7)
Perhaps the biggest surprise so far, Kane Cornes turned back the clock this season to post a massive average of 106.7 points per game. That’s the seventh highest average in the league!
CORNES-Kane.png

Interchange (Ruck): Will Minson (Moz) – 2022 points in 22 games (Avg 91.9)
Big Will Minson was an anchor for the Mozzie Bites, piling up the hitouts and adding a few goals to push his average above 90 for the season. Clearly one of the premier ruckman in the league.
MINSON%20Will.png

Interchange (Forward): Matthew Stokes (Bris) – 1988 points in 21 games (Avg 94.7)

I finished top but only one AA and nothing in Rising Star and our version of Brownlow my players were no where to be seen as well...

I'll trade you Goddard's spot on the HBF for the premiership. :D

In all seriousness I think it well and truly shows that depth in this game is paramount.
