apparently contested ball winning ability is one of the most consistent traits that translates to afl. Oliver is big but to me he looks like he will really benefit from a full time training environment and become seriously powerful. This is the exact type we need hence the recruitment of Townsend. Oliver has great agility and you can see this in his highlights. This will translate to the top level. It's one of the traits that makes Sam Mitchell so good. His ability to evade the tackler make space to enable a clean disposal.

Dunkley however doesn't look to have the speed and agility that Oliver has so I'm not so sure about him. Could be wrong though

Brett Anderson saying Curnow to Melbourne at 3. Which for mine makes little sense considering they traded for it and he would likely be around at 7.

Anderson thinks that Parish will go 4/5 and Oliver at 6. So id say based purely on that:

1. Weitering
2. Scache
3. Curnow
4. Parish
5. Weiderman
6. Oliver.

Obviously thats not taking into account bids.

I think your hoping he may turn into something that he may not.Alot easier to dominate at junior level when your his size.
As a club you are always hoping players turn into what they hope. So this player isn't any different than saying we hope Ah Chee turns into a Rioli type player. Either or really. For me what do we see as the most important issue right now? Is it another inside mid bull type, or a small mercurial small fwd? Imo we need both, but when we lose, we get hammered in the middle, so imo pick the best insider and if that is Oliver so be it.

Ah chee and Oliver getting talked about a lot on this thread.
Some believe Oliver wont slip as far as 12, some say he will. I think most believe ah chee will still be there at 12
My question is, if Oliver is snapped up is prior to us, would Ah chee be our most likely target at 12?
In any case, going off last years draft cellis at 12 was a master stroke and I have faith in the clubs decision

1) McCartin
2) petreca
3) brayshaw
4) Pickett
5) de goey
6) martchbank
7) ahern
8) Wright
9) Moore
10) Cockatoo
11) duggan
12) Ellis

Obviously Sydney getting Heeney was nothing short of highway robbery but I'm pretty happy with CEllis

If we take Moore and either him or Townsend can step up into a mid role then I think we can reach for a small forward
C.ellis will come as an inside mid and Drummond and Menadue will develop into HBF or wing types
The glaring hole we have is a small pacey fwd who can chase tackle and kick goals so Milera or Ah chee may be the go

Reckon Melbourne bids on Mills & Hopper at 3 meaning taking Curnow at effectively 5. If the Swans/Giants don't match they get a gun, if they do match it's not that much of a reach then.

Wouldn't surprise me. Dees are apparently keen for a key forward. They also like big bodied mids. Curnow could be both. Probably a good foil for hogan who is a power forward. Curnow will be able to use his tank and mobility at CHF and make space for Hogan. They also have a few gun mids coming through in petracca, viney, Brayshaw and Tyson and will be able to add to them at their second pick whereas they can't be as confident picking up a gun tall at their second pick

True but I still wish West Coast didn't get Duggan before our pick.

Ah chee will be the one I think, we ve got Moore and Townsend in to bolster our inside mids , they might be satisfied with that and instead fill a need for a natural small creative forward that we have craved for years. Looks the goods and a likely slider as bottom 8 clubs stock up on ball magnets and kpp ,

No , I have been tracking him for a long time , 4-5 years and well before others jumped aboard. Back to when he was a snotty nosed kid who relied heavily upon his athletic ability .
IMO he is not as mature as wines was at TAC level Whikst once he stops growing and tones up he will be exceptional .

He is alright and his writes ups are very good and in depth.

But personally i use it as a tool like any other to help me form my own opinion. I really only watch champs and maybe a TAC game in the year and usually GF (i didn't this year) so it helps to get a feel of players abilities, progress and potential. What you have to remember when using his mock drafts is that Collingwood influences him way too easy and its why IMO he'll never be a scout (which is what i assume he wants given his level of detail). And take that into consideration when judging players.

But he does get a bit right, for example he was huge on BEllis in his year when most weren't.
I kind of agree with you now re: Collingwood bias. I tested him to see how he would rate all the AFL clubs drafting and I think he got the list pretty good with Geel, WB near the top but to have Collingwood number 1 is pretty weird, I can't see how you could justify that they have drafted better than WB.

As you say I think he's a very good judge of talent and if you look at his past drafts he has predicted better than the draft order how guys will go but he has Collingwood bias.

You reckon this looks physically developed?
