2022 UCI World Championships - Wollongong

Hard to see an Aussie winning. Parcourse is a bit too difficult for Caleb or Groves, and not really steep enough for Haig, O'Connor or Hindley, with Bling realistically behind guys like Ala, MvdP, WVA, Ulissi etc for this sort of course.

The ITT probably suits Dennis or Roglic.

I suspect Australia will target the under 23's - Plapp will be hard to beat - The women's Under 23 is combined with the elite RR - Gigante has six weeks to find form and this course suits her - Spratt has too many injury issues while it's too hard for Brown and Manly - Men should ride for Matthews who is borderline at making the final - Dennis can medal in the ITT while Brown is top 5 - Australia could take a medal in the mixed relay ITT - Anything could happen in the juniors.

Coverage on Channel 9 has been horrible. About 25 minutes of ads so far since it started at 3.

Peloton have been shocking in this chase. Might get lucky but Australia really needs to get on the front and drive it for Bling, Hindley looks like he's just hanging on here.

Well the production crew ****ed that ending up didn't they? Should've been an exciting few minutes in the race for 2nd, instead it's a complete mess with no info at all...

It was a mess. Channel 9 shouldn't go for these things if they don't know how to cover it.

Give it to SBS forevermore please

Channel 9 don’t control the pictures, just like SBS don’t on any of their races. The only thing they controlled is cutting back to the studio, and going to ads on the fta coverage.

This year, Bling has finished 2nd or 3rd to Cosnefroy, Evenepoel, van Aert and Pogacar. Also beaten guys like Colbrelli and Bettiol. Having a good year.

Yes, and given I was watching the FTA coverage where there was about 50 km of racing and 70 km missed with ads, I'll say that they were pathetic.

As has already been pointed out, neither Nein, nor SBS, control the pictures.

SBS have been guilty of badly timed ad breaks in the past - most notably one where they missed almost half the Amstel Gold climbs due to badly timed breaks.

I'm not a fan of Nein, but blaming them for the TV pictures missing key moments is a bit rough, given that it's outside of their control.

They control when ads occur. They cut to an ad break every time Remco attacked. They were terrible, period.

Really strange race. Entertaining early but once it settled down it just seemed a question of which Belgian won. Dream scenario for them having Remco and Wout in each of the main groups. A few teams will really regret how they handled things tactically.

SBS have a pretty bad habit of doing the same thing. Will always happen though, ads are most valuable at the pointy end of races.
But SBS at least don't have ads, period, in the last 15-20 km of a race. Channel 9 managed to fit 3 ad breaks in the last 15 km.

MVDP's assault convictions have been overturned, after a judge finally took into account the "annoying and invasive conduct" of the feral teenagers, who were "doing (knock and run) deliberately to bait him and wind him up".

He should never have been charged in the first place. The parents, who failed to supervise their feral offspring, on the other hand...

It doesn't alter the fact that he was forced to withdraw from the World Championship race the following day, for which he was favourite... but at least he no longer has any legal issues hanging over his head, should he return to Australia for the TDU and/or Cadel Evans race.
