The issue is he's priced at 96 thanks to those games last year where he picked up 12 & 13 cheapo marks playing across half back. Not sure he beats that average as a mid tbh.
True, might just move up the board in draft formats.

One role I’m really keen on seeing is who take’s Hurn’s cheapie role at the Eagles and there’s a few candidates. Duggan’s not really that guy but he does get them sometimes

Witho you’d think would be up there, but there’s a chance he might not be best 23 come Round 1.

Hough and Jones could be the other two.

I think Duggan gets thrown into the middle a lot more this year. With Shuey retired, Sheed currently in a moon boot and Elliott Yeo not far off his bi-monthly injury there needs to be another old body in the middle other than Tim Kelly.

Hough potentially, but I see him playing more a wing role (hopefully displacing Gaff) this year. Realistically it would be Witho if he's best 22. Otherwise it would be a combination of Hunt, Jones, Hough depending on who is floating back at the time.

I like Hough. I’m bullish on him as a fantasy type. I think Burgiel is a smokey but still too early to tell if he has a role in the best 22. Will certainly need to work his way in so not really relevant right now. But yeah, I think Hough sees a solid uptick this year. Don’t think there will be a sole player that takes on the role. We all expect Witherden to slowly lose his place in the side at some point but we aren’t the coaches so who knows

Hough and Jones in particular are quite cheap too so you could punt on both to start. Jones is a tick over 600k and Hough is mid 500s

Cole, Barrass, Gov etc are more lockdown defenders and not cheapie guys, so it would have to be down to Hough, Jones, Witho or a mix of three

What are people doing about Daicos? Picking or fading to start?

I think with more midfield minutes he’s going to surpass 108 for the season.

He has an early bye but one of the later ones and he will have 4 games prior.

Sydney will probably put some time in to slowing him albeit probably not a hard tag like Clarke last year.

Saints then Brisbane I think he goes massive against.

Then last game before his bye he possibly cops a hard Finn tag. 😬

Any predictions on whether his price goes up, down or stays similar by time he’s had his bye?

I'm leaning towards picking him, as I think with the lack of premium defenders (no Dawson, no Doch) I think he is potentially 10+ points better than the next best group of defenders. Yes, you might take a hit early on with the tags and the bye but in the long run you won't have to worry about having to upgrade to him later on.

Apparently Zac Williams is looking ok.
I would prefer he start slow.
Has the Round 0 sighter, post Rd 1 price adjustment but then the killer round 2 bye.

Will be a must have if he goes 80 Rd zero but pick up post bye wouldn't hurt.

Im leaning the same way. Think at R6 will be difficult to upgrade to a $950-$1m player. Might get stuck chasing my tail.

Just going to grab him. Not going to worry about R2 bye on a $400k player. You have an 80 guy on a bye and hopefully one of our 19-22 guys will be able to score that given it’s best 18

Will that all depend on how he goes round zero where we get a free shot to pick him or not?

I didn't start him last year and it hurt, that being said, I might do the same again as this year is different.

What makes it difficult for me starting him is that I also want to start Grundy and both have that rnd 5 bye. I'm sure that Daicos will be top 3 and Grundy will be right up there as well. I think that I'm forced to start Grundy due to his value and I struggle with having to deal with 2 forced trades to get the points coverage and then 2 more trades to get them back in, or in Grundy's case a possible upgrade. There's bound to be an injury or 2 and just as importantly, a 'must have' rookie that shows up. This is also compounded by the possibility of starting Gawn as well who has the rnd 6 bye.

I'm not too concerned about Daicos scoring 10pts/game over those first 4 rounds (where his pts count) especially where a Finn tag is highly likely and could result in a score of 70 or so, that alone sways me towards fading, but there's also the loss of points to consider when he's out in rnd 5 which would be another 50pts or so. If he has an ordinary score in rnd 4 then that will take (possibly) rnds 6 & 7 to cycle through meaning that he's a rnd 8 upgrade target, pretty much right in the sweet spot for upgrades

I’m avoiding playing the catch-up game this year. If I want someone, I’m just starting them.

Last year I swayed away from Daicos at the last minute. Then spent the next 10 weeks trying to get him back.

With injuries and form issues amongst other players, simply finding a way to trade in a premium after 5/6 weeks isn’t always as easy as it sounds.

Also saves burning a traded. The rookies wouldn’t have fattened up enough by that point you want to get him in and would likely result in a sideways trade rather than upgrading a rookie to a premo.

If it weren’t for the Round 0 BS I’d pick Naicos but it just adds a very early headache if you do. Sic and Sinc should score similar anyway

Yes it's BS allright, but we all have to deal with it. Swapping Daicos out for Young allows me to get Williams on over a rookie, I don't know if my assumptions are right and maybe I'm looking at 'blue sky' outcomes but I reckon I'm around 120-140pts better off over those first 5 rounds.

I'm thinking Young should go around 100PPG if he's got that mid role and Williams should score arounds 20PPG more than a rookie over the 4 games that he counts for. So 500 + 80 = 580

Daicos should score about 110PPG for the first 3 rounds but then has the Finn tag in rnd 4 where he could score a 70 then he has the bye where the 19th player comes on the field for him who I'd think would score a 60 or so. Total pts would be around 460.

Even if Daicos has a couple of 140's and Young has a couple of 80's there's still no let loss but with the added bonus of having William's score over a rookie's scores for 3 of those early byes
