Seems like this Giants squad could have some bargain buys if we go after the right players:

Madden could be a solid ruck option depending on how he progresses through this season. Derksen as a key defender at 194cm could be handy. Angwin as a wingman (although we probably don't need those types of players atm)

I reckon crazy fonts are the reason we haven’t been able to attract gun footballers to the club. Scares everyone off.

I said the same thing to RTB the other morning.

He told me to font off

This is a very good point. Depending how the season ends, which admittedly looking pretty rosemary thus far, we’re not an attractive destination. He’d have offers from top 6 clubs and the like. Youngsters need to elevate us over the next season
For now, we need to be smart through trading and drafting:

- Trade for high potential players unloved by their current club e.g. how we got Steele.. would look at North for 1-2 genuine mids

- keep going to the draft

How do you keep going to the Draft if........?????? "- Trade for high potential players unloved by their current club e.g. how we got Steele.. would look at North for 1-2 genuine mids"

Our list has been poor for a long time, if it’s only 1 or 2 holes to plug, you can fix it by trading known quantities like Geelong did over the years.

The issue is about half of the side are not good enough, you can’t trade in 10-15 players in one go.. so you need to be able to draft well, and then take your chances at the trade table. Last year we got Henry and Dow for cheap, we need another 3-4 this year plus drafting another 5-6 quality kids..

It's not that grim. One more year like last year will be enough. Then we only need time and continuity.

If it were me I'd be looking hard at Jarrod Berry as an RFA.
Find a KPD, perhaps E. Himmelberg as RFA and take what we can get for Doogs.
Conner Stone and a Ruckman for a trade.

If pick purchasing becomes a thing, buy up some late picks and snaffle a FRDP off GC.

Take 2 FRDP's a mid and KPD, then any FS/NGA that's worthy, leaving a spot for SSP/MSD
Unfortunately we have to take a Zebra.

Seb - Retire (sorry Seb)
Bonner - Delist
Allison - Delist
Moose and/or TC - Delist
Hotton - Delist
Jones - Delist
Hayes - TBD
Doogs - Trade
Gus Mac - TBD

Outs:8 -10
Ins: 8 -10

I think we should be having a crack at Nick Madden from GWS. 19 year old ruckman that’s 204cm and dominating the state league. Only issue is he is from NSW so might be hard to pull out.

Moyle might be more gettable.

Yeah we might live to regret this Sandy rookie thing.
How long do we have to sign them on for? If it’s two years we could end up with two permanent duds on the list.

Rookie list is generally a one year contract

We don't need bulk numbers of young players we need to settle on which ones we want to persist with and call them earlier. Also need to get strategic. Sell later kicks to sides needing points for higher picks. Like Melbourne did, try to move up to chase targeted players. You need 100% faith in Dalrymple to do that but he has runs on the board to do that.

Getting some smart under-utilised players is essential these days. Binns from Carlton, Joel Jeffrey, Will Phillips etc.

Derby Hipwell looks okay. He's probably more likely than Allison to be honest.
