2nd Test: Australia vs England at Perth

Day Two - Martyn/Watson score hundred as debutant celebrates record

Australia have stormed to a huge lead at stumps on day 2. The side, rocked by a first test defeat have looked set for a big turn around after Shane Watson and Damien Martyn scored hundreds against a fustrated English attack, the second time in consecutive games after the pair both recorded triple figures at Brisbane last week. Watson (111) and Martyn (127) set up the Aussies first innings score of 488 all out.

Australia unleashed their pace on the WACA turf for 18 overs before stumps, with an amazing start. Shaun Tait got an edge through to Gilchrist from opener Alistair Cook in his first over, before another wicket, up-rooting Kevin Pietersen's middle and leg stumps. At 2-16, England were in trouble, but a thick edge to first slip saw debutant Mitchell Johnson create history, taking a wicket with his first ever delivery in test cricket, that of century-maker and match winner Ian Bell. England at stumps are 3-44.

2nd Test: Australia vs England at Perth

Day Three - Australia have control as England get skittled

England have suffered revenge as Australia's pace attack has forced the tourists to follow on, in what is a batting strip. In a lethal final hour last night, it continued to worsen as Shane Watson scored 3 wickets in his first spell of the day, including Marcus Trescothick with the opening batsmen's first ball of the day. Watson also claimed Brisbane heroes Vaughan and Flintoff. Glenn McGrath cleaned up the lower order, with his first two wickets coming in succession, and almost claiming a 2nd hat-trick at the WACA. McGrath and Watson finished with first innings figures of 3 wickets, as did Shaun Tait.

England fought back in their second innings, remaining at 1-94 with Trescothick and Pietersen at the crease. Shaun Tait claimed Cook for the second time in the test. Rain interrupted for 3/4 of an hour but the weather looks good for the final two days.

2nd Test: Australia vs England at Perth

Day Four - Aussies level Ashes with massive win

After being sent in to bat several days ago, everything has gone right for Australia after a tragic few days before hand. After enforcing the follow on, Australia set itself the task of winning by an innings and was achieved comfortably, with an innings and 78 runs the final result to level the series 1-1.

England's former skipper Michael Vaughan was the only batsman to make a solid contribution in the second innings as Pietersen and Trescothick fell early after surviving the late sun 24 hours ago. Shane Warne and Shane Watson found bowling form while Glenn McGrath continued to put balls in the right area, forcing the tourists to be all out for 227 following on from a first innings of 133.

Shane Watson's all-round abilities made him man of the match, taking 5 wickets and scoring a second consecutive century, in the end, taking best bowling figures and scoring his best with the bat.

Third Test Preview, Adelaide

As the series is level 1-1, both teams look to take the lead in what looks an unpredictable result ahead. Playing on the Adelaide Oval, the pitch prepared by Les Burdett is an absolute beauty for the ball, but the outfield is as sharp as anything seen in the Australian summer. Kevin Mitchell jnr set the series alight with a road at the Gabba, while the weather allowed a changing script in Perth a fortnight ago.

Australia have gone into the 3rd test with the same team, including Brett Lee keeping his spot as 12th man, with WACA debutant Mitchell Johnson doing enough to keep his spot. Jason Gillespie has been fighting hard for the Redbacks, as has Stuart Clark with consistency for the Blues, so the pressure has been on the selectors.

England have gone into the test with an all in pace attack, as Anthony Davies playing in his first test match after a promising summer. Davies provides seam and swing to the side, but with Ashley Giles dropped, it gives no help if spin is required, with Michael Vaughan the only man capable of rolling his arm.

Australia: Justin Langer, Matthew Hayden, *Ricky Ponting, Damien Martyn, Mike Hussey, Shane Watson, +Adam Gilchrist, Shane Warne, Mitchell Johnson, Shaun Tait, Glenn McGrath, Brett Lee (12th man)

England: Marcus Trescothick, Alistair Cook, Kevin Pietersen, Ian Bell, Michael Vaughan, *Andrew Flintoff, +Matthew Prior, Simon Jones, Anthony Davies, Stephen Harmison, Matthew Hoggard, Ashley Giles (12th man)

3rd Test: Australia vs England at Adelaide

Day One - Vaughan hundred gives England handy lead

Michael Vaughan has steered England out of trouble with another hundred, this time at the Adelaide Oval, the same venue when he showed his true form in the last Ashes on Australian soil. Vaughan made his second hundred for the series, following a big hundred in the first test, to put the Poms in control, being 7 for 333 at stumps on the first day.

Vaughan came to the crease at 3-26, but formed a solid partnership with Ian Bell, and then a fantastic stand of 160 with Andrew Flintoff, who fell short of three figures, making 88. Vaughan was bowled by Mitchell Johnson which broke the partnership, and Vaughan going on 109 off only 195 balls.

Shaun Tait and Glenn McGrath got things going early, but lost the rythym. Shane Watson and Mitchell Johnson were smashed around the park, while Shane Warne struggled to get a breakthrough. Michael Prior is still at the crease, looking for a big hundred.

Result: England lead by 333 runs

3rd Test: Australia vs England at Adelaide

Day Two - Langer puts Australia in control

Despite rain cutting an hour off Australia's time, Justin Langer pushed 11 balls through to the boundary to bring up an unbeaten hundred at stumps on day 2 after England were dismissed in the first hour.

England were bowled out for 364, with Johnson, Watson and Warne all taking wickets. Prior left on 76. Australia made a solid start to their first innings, with Langer and Hayden taking the side through to lunch before Hayden went 40 minutes before tea after a half century. Langer kept fighting on, making a partnership with the skipper, before Ponting was caught behind for 24. Langer bought up a well deserved hundred, and continued on through to stumps to sit at 107 not out, with Martyn up the other end on 26. Australia only trail by 144 runs.

3rd Test: Australia vs England at Adelaide

Day Three - Hussey and Watson belt English attack

Additional hundreds to the Australian scorecard have put the Aussies into a commanding position. Mike Hussey gained form with a huge hundred, while Shane Watson recorded his 3rd consecutive hundred, as he still is at the crease overnight.

Australia sit at a mammoth 5 for 576 at stumps on day 3, with Langer (121), Hussey (161) and Watson (139*) putting in solid performances. Langer fell early in the day, then did Martyn, but a 266 run partnership for the 5th wicket by Hussey and Watson has put Australia in front.

Matthew Hoggard has once again being carted all over the ground, without taking a wicket, and debutant Anthony Davies claimed Langer lbw, but has gone for expensive figures.

3rd Test: Australia vs England at Adelaide

Day Four - Australia take Ashes lead with innings defeat

Australia have taken a 2-1 lead in The Ashes thanks to a brilliant all-round performance. Australia were bowled out for 629, with Watson going early in the day for 146, hitting a boundary before leaving the crease. England came out of the dressing room needing 265 runs to make Australia bat again, but a draw was the objective from the tourists.

At 3-80, England were in trouble with Trescothick, Pietersen and Bell out, and then Vaughan and Flintoff fell soon after to be 5-99. The collapse saw defensive tactics from opener Alistair Cook, who made 61*. Shane Warne was superb, bowling 30.1 overs to gain figures of 4-28, which included 18 maidens and an economy rate of under 1.00, his best rate when bowling 30 or more overs in a game. Glenn McGrath also took 3 wickets while Shaun Tait took 2. Mitchell Johnson didn't appear out on the ground after suffering an arm injury, and is expected to miss the next month. Mike Hussey was named man of the match.

Toss: England
Result: Australia win by an innings and 125 runs.
Series: Australia lead 1-1
Test Debut: Anthony Davies (England)
