Crows a sneaky flag chance

If they continue to get better and better with each game, yes. As it stands though, their track performance suggests they aren't, they lost to Hawks at home and would have a severe battle to get to the Grand Final to begin with. I think they have the talent and potential to make the prelims, but this year a Grand Final isn't on the cards.

You realise this thread was started by a Collingwood supporter?
You realise no Adelaide supporters have agreed with the OP?

However right now we are better then the three teams you listed.
How are you better than Essendon right now?

Seriously wha

Seriously why is there an argument over who is better out of the dons & Crows as about the same.

Irrelevant when flag will be won by 1 of the top 4.

The one thing about the crows this year is that the harder the game is, the better we play. It's funny because I can see us losing to brisbane at the gabba, but if we make the finals, I would be quietly confident in sneaking a win against geelong/hawthorn/freo/sydney at home.

Yeah, I don't think Port can win it either.

It is hard to argue that the Crows are better than Essendon, but IMO it would be equally absurd to argue that beating Essendon is impossibly out of the question for the Crows.

In recent games the Crows were within two goals of Essendon and even Hawthorn. Two goals is by no means impossible to make up (it could be a matter of a lucky bounce and a favourable umpiring decision) ... hence this discussion that the Crows might be an outside (or sneaky) chance.

you lost at home to a depleted hawthorn squad... you might as well bring up that essendon lost to hawthorn and geelong by less than two goals earlier on in the year

Adelaide and Essendon both lost to Melbourne, and that is basically the barometer of the season. If you lose to Melbourne, you aren't going to win the flag.

This is the best run of injuries the crows have had since 2012, with a few key players returning the recent form shouldn't come as a surprise. I think people underrated the crows at the start of the year due to last years performance which was plagued by injuries. If the current team can remain injury free, it's a stronger squad than the 2012 prelim team.

Um.....without Tippet, who starred in the prelim. Don't really agree.

Might as well. Hawthorn winning any given game, or Geelong for that matter, is not a given after all. If Adelaide are a "sneaky chance" then certainly, at least as much, Essendon are also.

The start of this season all the way up to round 14 or so was also plagued by injuries, there being up to six or seven first-choice players unavailable every week up until that point. It is only recently (past five rounds or so) that the Crows have had key players returning and a near full list of players available to choose from. If Scott Thompson becomes available this week against West Coast then the number of first-choice players unavailable might become as low as two or three (VB, Kerridge and possibly one could argue Cameron).

Yes, one would probably agree ... for the current team. Not true for the team that has been fielded for the major part of this season, but the current team, perhaps. Caveats: Tex, Jenkins and Lynch would need to find a bit more of their best form than they have recently had. Grigg has been strangely out of it for most of the year but perhaps he has found touch again, and Douglas has also been down but he did seem to get back some touch against the Pies. Henderson also is still a bit rusty, and Dangerfield is playing at 75% at best. Rutten has become too slow and Luke Thompson is still finding his feet as a replacement (Hartigan is unavailable for the rest of the season).

Really been a slow news week in footy. All this talk about finals, every day since we destroyed collingwood in the last quarter at the G ,with a run of 5 goals at the most important time. Now flag talk.

If Jacobs get injured, in any one of the next 9 games (assuming we make the GF) our season over.
