Voted against repealing a tax cut proposed by raising the tax-free threshold from 18,200 to 19,400. Along with ALP, Greens and the cross bench

Thoughts?

First day in parliament and he's already saved Australian taxpayers $2 billion.

Raising the tax-free threshold to $19,000 was one of the few good things the Gillard government did. The Liberals trying to lower it again goes against everything they supposedly stand for.

In reality the Liberal party stands for nothing, but now the LDP is in the senate, David and the LDP (and Bob Day of Family First) are going to take every opportunity to oppose tax hikes and nanny state laws.

Disclosure: Member of the LDP since 2007.

He always speaks well. Calling out the PUP party for Palmer acting like a Puppermaster despite not being an elected senator. Doesnt sound like he's a fan of PUP right now.

Even if people don't like his politics I have the feeling he's going to be incredibly open about things and give people an insight into the workings of the senate along the way.

Much like how the Greens do with their excellent, rapid uploading of Senate APAC stuff to YouTube.

And people ridicule Jacquie. Would love to see David and Jacquie in a debate.

What does that even mean? What are you trying to say?

He's declared his dislike for socialism. That will make him a nut in the socialists eyes.

You know, the kind of mongs who will label him "right wing" because he likes guns. Even though he supports gay marriage, legalisation of pot, womens right to abortions.

Mine was just an observation too. I really dislike the law that gives taxpayer money to parties based on votes. Shouldn't getting voted in to parliament with a huge salary be reward enough?

Murdoch reflects public opinion in his tabloids which is why they sell so well (and why Fairfax / Guardian etc) do so badly.

Evidence?

Further:
http://www.crikey.com.au/2014/02/14/fairfax-trumps-news-in-race-for-digital-subscribers-audit/
Fairfax’s titles have already amassed more digital subscribers than their News Corp rivals, according to Audit Bureau of Circulations figures released this morning. In the December 2013 quarter, just over 57,000 people subscribed to The Australian online, and another 39,380 subscribed to the Herald Sun. Over at Fairfax, 120,043 people have subscribed to The Sydney Morning Herald and another 117,918to its Melbourne cousin.

So, the good senator is introducing a bill to clear the way for gay marriage, and called for a conscience vote on the matter, yet no vitriol towards him here as of yet.

Or is that anger only reserved for Greens senators who do the same and, apparently, waste the Senates time with with bills that reflect the general public's sentiment?
